5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Treatise in a Time of Biblical Confusion
The Invisible War is a wonderful text about the conflict between God and Satan. It answers from clear consise statements from the Bible why mankind exists. It also examines mankind's relationship to the angelic creation. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was immediately put off by the first chapter where Barnhouse espouses the "gap theory"

You can't ignore passages like Exd 20:11 "For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.."

That is a clear statement that millions...

The Invisible War is a wonderful text about the conflict between God and Satan. It answers from clear consise statements from the Bible why mankind exists. It also examines mankind's relationship to the angelic creation. Consequently, the book also examines thoroughly what the Bible says about creation of the universe, earth, life on earth, and His restoration after imposing judgment on fallen angels. It is a unique book in its coverage of topics too often ignored or brushed over in today's church environment. It is a valuable refernce in my library and should be to yours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edgar in Virginia, June 1, 2007
This review is from: Invisible War, The (Paperback)
Debate surrounding the fascinating "theory" contained in this book may lead one to conclude that the book is concerned primarily with a peculiar conjecture. In reality, this book's strength lies not in the so-called "Gap Theory", but in Dr. Barnhouse's wonderful ability to express himself in remarkable ways concerning numerous areas of our Christian understanding. The theory could be taken away completely, and the book would still retain its excellence. An Intriguing page-turner. Highly recommended.

I only thought that I was comfortable with my knowledge of the creation account until I read this book and found out how little I knew about the spiritual warfare between the God who dwells in unapproachable light and the prince of darkness.
If you want to read a fictional story mixed with some Biblical truth than this book is NOT for you since it is filled with Biblical truth and insight with very little hypothetical information. This book is a real jewel in these times of so-called Bible Teachers who mainly weave tales.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books on Spiritual Warfare, January 23, 2001
This review is from: Invisible War, The (Paperback)
This book by Dr. Barnhouse is one of the best I've read on Spiritual Warfare. He covers a broad range of topics including Creation, the Fall of Man, Angels and Demons, our struggle with sin and the eternal state. This is an easy read for any level of Christian. It's quite understandable for a new believer yet still informative to a Seminary graduate.

I give it my highest recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars No matter what your "Religious" preference.. Great Read !!!!, May 1, 2002

"The Invisible War" is a tremendous addition to anyones library. At the very least it will provide much "Food for Thought" concerning the ages old problem of Good vs. Evil in the world. It lays down in plain language many highly viable answers to the questions many ask about the Bible, "If God KNEW that the Devil was going to do this or that, why did God allow the Devil to do what he's doing!!!!"

For the Christian, it sure can clear some "clouds"... for anyone else, a terrific read. Challenging and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Info we need in this age of deceit, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Invisible War, The (Paperback)
Hey kids, if you are serious about what you profess to believe and are willing to engage the enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ; then this book is ammo you will need. The majority of the body of Christ today has been disarmed through the acceptance of the idea that we must make the church attractive to the world by making the church look like the world. The attraction hungered for by the world is truth. Barnhouse lays out a scripturally sound work defining the enemy's beginning, fall and warfare against the Lord and his saints. Put this book in your arsenal before you engage the enemy of the Lord.

D.G. Barnhouse lived well before my time. His insights are as fresh today as when he wrote them. This is one of the most thought provoking books I have ever read. Barnhouses' insights on the rebellion of Satan and mankind made me reconsider my commitment to God. He also presents a clear Scriptural based argument for the "Gap Theory" and the pre-history role of Lucifer. I recommend this book to anyone interested in what is really going on around us in the unseen Spiritual War.

I heard about this book a while back, so I decided to check it out for myself. Barnhouse really did his homework and this book uses information given to us through the Bible to shed light on the conflicts throughout history. The "real" reality, the spiritual realm, has a great impact on our everyday lives, so arm yourself and get informed. The invisible war concerns you, whether you know it or not. If you really want to get a peek at whats going on behind the scenes of this play called life, then get this book asap!

I never heard of the late Dr. Donald Barnhouse until I heard him on the radio one day. I liked his teaching and decided to read some of his books. I am also reading his expostion on Romans.

This book will expand upon and/or cause you to think about the truths in the bible. I highly recommend as this is an easy to understand learning of the bible.

I am a witness for Jesus Christ and I pray for the lost souls daily that are blinded by Satan that blinds so many from finding Salvation, the Glory and the Truth of God and His Son Jesus our Savior and Redeemer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Which Side Are You On?, January 18, 2010
By
This review is from: Invisible War, The (Paperback)
I just finished reading this tonight and I have to say I've never read such a comprehensive and well-defended book (other than the Bible). It is loaded to the hilt with concise, fast-moving discussions about critical, confusing, and difficult passages of the Bible. It begins with creation in Genesis and finishes with judgment in Revelation. This book is a must read for any Bible-believing Christian. Certainly not for those with itching ears. If you are scripturally-weak read the Bible first(As in Genesis through Revelation). Then read Barnhouse. It will strengthen every Christian to take a stand in the Invisible War.
