This review is from: Invitation (Audio CD)
This album was recorded on December 20, 1990 at Ven Gelder Recording Studios in Englewood Cliffs, NJ by the legendary Recording Engineer Rudy Van Gelder. Being an audiophile, the quality of the recording means a lot to me.

As far as the MUSIC on this CD, If you like Kenny Barron, this is one of my all time FAVORITE Kenny Barron CD.s With musicians Palph Moore on tenor sax, David Williams on Bass and Lewis Nash on Drums and with three compositions by Kenny Barron (And Then Again, Dewdrop, Joanne Julia) "Namely You" by Mercer-DePaul, "Invitation" by Br. Kaper, "An Afternoon in Paris" by J. Lewis, "You Don't Know What Love Is" by Raya-De Paul, and a cover of Monk's "Blue Monk" the material and the performances by these great musicians is tremendous. I'm a HUGE T. Monk fan, and usually don't like covers of Monk tunes, since he was one unto himself, but I can't help but love this rendition of "Blue Monk". This is a must have CD. The Artistry of the musicians, the arrangements and the recording quality. This one has it ALL!!!
