This book is so hot in my K/1 class that I ordered 4 more. Several of my students take copies of this and the other Elephant and Piggie books home to read and reread every night. Parents have written notes in the home reading logs that their kids read in animated voices and thoroughly enjoy every minute of the book together. I've already preordered the next two Elephant and Piggie books for my classroom. Mo Willems may be the next Dr. Seuss in emergent reader excitement.

My daughter just received this book as a birthday present. I read it to her once before nap today. When she woke up we read it again. Before bed she wanted to read it again. On the third reading she starting cracking up laughing every time I read the "Wait!" line. She insisted I read it three more times laughing harder and harder each time. After we turned off the light, she begged for me to read it just one more time in the dark. She has never asked for that before. After that time, she asked if we could read it as soon as she wakes up in the morning. Of course I said YES! She had a similar response to "Dont let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," but not that intense. We cant wait to get more Piggie books!!

The Elephant and Piggie Books are fun for kids just learning to read and also very readable because of the word repetition, without being too boring because of the word repetition! My 5-year-old son loves being able to read it to anyone who will sit still and listen.

I am Invited to a Party is about Elephant and Piggie. They are so excited and they try to find the perfect outfits to wear to the party. They get a dress, a bathing suit, and goggles. Piggie gets a cowboy hat! It is super funny because they all get crazy things from their closet and they get things and get things and get things. THen they finally see balloons. I like this book because I love Elephant and Piggie books. I like the illustrations!

Mo Willems is a genius. My two-year-old is enamored with the Elephant and Piggy books in the same way I was attached to Dr. Seuss as a girl. Make no mistake, we have plenty of Dr. Seuss at our house, but my little one runs around the house with her head thrown back yelling, "WE MUST BE READY!" She will grab the Elephant and Piggy books, sit down, point, and recite.

The text is well-organized for prereading. The repetition and the pictures give great clues for the little ones who are wanting to read but not quite there. However, the silly, zany, fun story lines are what bring my toddlers back to the books again and again and again.

In this book, Piggy says of Gerald, "He better know parties." Well, a Mo Willems book IS a party. Enjoy!!

I bought this for my daughter, who was on the verge of reading. She loved the story, and through the repetition in the dialogue, learned the words. This was the first book she read to me all the way through. And even adults can appreciate the humor and drawings.

The elephant and piggie books are some of the favorites in our house right now. My kindergartener loves them, and they are just very enjoyable books for everyone.
The illustrations are wonderful and really add to the story.

I love these books. my kids love these books. my daughter is in kindergarten, and learning to read, these books are perfect for her to practice. very simple, only a few words on each page, but witty and clever story lines. i cant wait to get more books from Mo Willems.

My kids giggled their way through this book -- PARTY! Quite fun for a simple reader book. We need more Mo Willems!
