Gunilla Norris' book is incredible. She teaches without teaching.
Reading her book is a meditation in and of itself. The book carries you into meditation through her words...It is a soul's journey from noise to silence from beginning to end.
When finished you will crave the "silence" she writes about. You'll read it over and over just to make sure you get every last bit of wisdom she has to share.
She'll make you believe "silence" is magic.
It is a must ! I want more!

Gunilla Norris offers wise, gentle and unencumbered encouragement to develop a peaceful practice. She provides beautiful teachings that allow us to connect tenderly with our innermost selves and the world by learning to be still. This is a wonderful book for people beginning to mediate but is also deeply nourishing for those further along in their practice.

At first I was put off by the formatting of the text in the middle of the page, but finally fell into the rhythm of the words. This little book offered me the quiet wisdom I was hoping for. Keep it close to you, you'll want to read it often.

Having long been an avid reader of everything Gunilla Norris has written, I was thrilled when 'Inviting Silence' came out in 1994. It is simple, practical and very accessible. Everything I loved in 'Sharing Silence' is not only there but is enhanced with that lovely translucent clarity so outstanding in what Gunilla Norris writes. I think you will agree that she shows us how and why the practice of silence is a gift to the universe -- one that we can all make.

I have read this book several times. I have given it to other people. It is POETRY. It is perfect for a beginner or an advance meditation practioner. I practice meditation and it always provides me with reminders and new insights. I would highly recommend it, whatever your religious or spiritual background is. It truly is universal.

A friend introduced our meditation circle to Inviting Silence by Gunilla Norris several years ago. We all resonated to her quiet, compassionate and insightful prose. I have bought and given a dozen copies of this book to friends. My husband and I turn to this writing whenever we are invited to lead the meditation and for our own daily practice. Gunilla Norris has a way of speaking to the universal human heart beyond any dogmas or theologies, gently reminding us of what we already know in our heart of hearts.
