This review is from: Invu 15-Inch LCD TV with Built-In DVD Player and Stand (Sports)
I purchased this tv and stand to place it in front of my treadmill, as the family room tv is much too far away to enjoy. I never hooked this up to use as anything other than a dvd player, so it's not like it's worn out from some type of overload. I found that I was wasting my Netflix membership by not making time to watch the movies I was renting, and this was a perfect solution for me. Put on a good movie, start walking, get lost in the movie and the next thing you know, an hour has passed and you don't even notice! So I was getting a good walk by using this, but then, about 8 months after buying, the dvd screen started to 'melt' when I put a movie in. Then it just started freezing and staying frozen. The company that makes this lcd tv used to be named Vuze, and my tv has that name imprinted on it instead of InVu. Based on the problem with this LCD tv in such a short period of time, I can see why they changed their name. I went online to their website: [...], and they give you a prompt to email customer service to ask for a repair. I did that....TWICE, with no response. Then I called, TWICE, with the first person telling me that I should email again and the second person telling me that they would ask whomever was handling the repair tickets to look mine up and contact me, but they never did. I wasn't lucky enough to get this like the other buyer as an inexpensive 'throw in' to another product. This tv cost me close to $400 and I can't get any customer service or response. I HAVE NEVER PURCHASED ANYTHING THIS EXPENSIVE THAT BROKE THIS QUICKLY AND THAT HAD NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will appeal to Amazon to see if they can help me, but watch out....this lcd tv is HORRIBLE and customer service is worse. FOLLOWUP: Contacted Amazon and they sent me a replacement tv, this one imprinted with InVu. I am grateful to Amazon, the only downside is I have to return the previous tv, and the configuration of the tv and the stand are so different from the original one that I can't use this packaging. But I do appreciate Amazon's great customer service!!!

We wanted a tv perched high enough up to use in front of our tredmill at home and searched all over for something that would fit. By chance, I clicked on Amazon, found VUZE and took a chance on it. Really worth even more than it cost; was easy to set up, we use it regularly and the flat screen allows it to be placed very close to the front of the tredmill without distortion in viewing. Sound is good too, and, since we have it hooked up to our cable tv service, it is able to span the whole complex of stations we can normally receive on all the sets at home. A good investment!

Decent lcd tv and stand for $100,

I got this tv for $100 when I ordered my Sole E55 elliptical recently in Apr09. I think Sole had some partnership going with Vuze. At first they said they would sell the tv to me for $200 with free shipping as a special since I was purchasing an elliptical from them. I said, "no thanks", then the price came down to $100 with free shipping. I couldn't resist so just bought it. Overall the TV is of decent quality. It picked up all my digitial channels (via Comcast cable), so it definitely has QAM tuner. The image quality is actually very nice. I haven't tried out the dvd player yet, but it definitely has one integrated. The only drawback to this tv is that it is not widescreen. You can watch programming in widescreen ratio, but the screen will have the black bars above and below. I especially like the powder coated metal stand the tv mounts to. It is very sturdy and great for the workout room. I think for the price that I paid, it is a bargain, but I couldn't justify paying more than $200 for this.

DVD Player breaks very quickly!,

I purchased this Invu unit, and the DVD player started freezing a couple of weeks after purchase (with only a few hours of use). I returned it to the store where I purchased it and it was replaced under warranty. The second unit had the same problem after about 6 months (again, not much usage - definitely less than 45 hours). It was no longer under warranty, so i just abandoned my Invu. A shame, because I really liked having this in my gym.

My husband got this for me and it's been a great motivator for my exercising. Quality of picture is great and just the right size screen. I hook this up to cable with DVR, watch one sitcom without commercials and I finish two miles easily. It also has built in DVD player. Get it with free shipping and it's a great deal!

How to get cable channels on it? - Updated,
This review is from: Invu 15-Inch LCD TV with Built-In DVD Player and Stand (Sports)
So far this TV is terrible as I can't get any tv stations on it after having spent over 4 hours trying different things...ugh!
Any suggestions anyone? For those who have one, how did you set it up, pls? We bought this Vuze tv with our treadmill, but I have been unable to get any cable channels on it. I choose set up, and use the Auto Find cable channel features (tried on all 3 cable settings, Auto, HR and IRC or close to those I'm not beside the tv right now), it searches for 5-10 minutes says it finds a few channels but all the channels either have lots of snow on them or it says No Signal. We have Time Warner digital cable with extended channels. The black wire cable that came with the Vuze was the standard plug used for tv cable (very thin wire plug coming out from the center) on one side, and the other side was a weird plug. I went to Radio Shack, who said it was a PAL plug so I bought a connector for it to the standard tv cable plug and it still didn't work. I bought a long black wire cable that had the standard plug used for tv cable on both ends and tried that, and that didn't work either. I know it is not a problem with the connection coming from the wall since I have tried using the one that connects to our regular tv, which obviously gets all the channels. When I called Vuze, I could only talk to a sales rep and he had no idea. Any help much appreciated! ***** Updated: April 24...sorry for the delay - I don't check this often. I ended up getting thru to someone who was friendly but knew nothing but was able to give me an e-mail address to write to. I thought it was just the run-around but decided to give it a try. The tech support, Brad, got back to me the next day, a good sign! He was extremely professional and concerned about the issue. He had not experienced cx concerns like this before. Over the next few days we exchanged e-mails as he told me to try a few things and I tested them. First issue was the connector that came with the TV was PAL (wrong type for USA). He sent a new adapter. Turns out the cable connection is weak so while I can now get all the channels, the picture looks like it's from a 20 yr old tv. However, the DVD looks sharp so it's not a screen issue. I've been too busy to look into it, but I've been told that if I can get a stronger signal, it should be clearer. We have a bunch of cables running all over the place in the crawl space (previous owners set it up) so I will have to take a look and figure out if I can make a shorter connection, etc. However, I can get the channels now and know the dvd player works well so am not worried about it. Not watched much, listening to my ipod usually when I run. I'll get to this next month. I'd change the star rating to 4 but I can't seem to change it. Customer service was excellent. I put casters on the TV so I can wheel it from the treadmill to the kitchen if I'm in there baking for a long time, etc.

Nice product, but no customer service,
This review is from: Invu 15-Inch LCD TV with Built-In DVD Player and Stand (Sports)
This product was purchased as a Christmas gift, so went passed the 30 day return window before the unit was opened. Customer Service initially told me they would be sending the RA out to return it, then they informed me they can not help with returning the equipment since it was outside their return window and no exceptions can be made due to their system constraints. Now we have something that is unusable in the space available, with no recourse. If you decide to purchase this equipment, you had better open it straight away and make sure it is what you want as you will receive no assistance from INVU's customer service.

Customer Service is VERY LOUSY,
This review is from: Invu 15-Inch LCD TV with Built-In DVD Player and Stand (Sports)
I bought this item for Christmas in 2009 - it was shipped on time, easy to setup and easy to use, however about 3 months after getting the set the remote control mysteriously stopped working. I contacted the company for a replacement and they said they'd send it right out. They failed to do so and in April i started emailing them, it's been four months and they refuse to send me a replacement remote. I even tried to buy one but the device doesn't work with any universal remotes that work with the INVU TV.
Now my TV will play DVDs but I can't turn off subtitles and the director commentary sometimes comes on by default and I can't turn it off because this can only be done by remote. Personally I'm really unhappy with the customer service, they really don't seem to care now that I've bought the television. Good luck with the service department if you should need anything. They are pretty lousy.

INVU Television - Great Stand Will Not Work on Cable,

I purchased this tv, spent all the time setting it up to find that the company, Fitness Entertainment Systems choose not to have the universal cable codes installed on their tv. Why I don't know. Because of that if you have Comcast Cable and it requires an adapter box, the television will not work. It will not work even when connected directly to the wall. This is such a disappointment because the stand that comes with the television is awesome! Check your cable system before you buy this television.

I bought the INVU tv directly from Invu's website on 1/30/11. So far, I am pleased with the unit. You should know that the latest version of this TV shipped by INVU does not look like the one in Amazon's photos. The newer version of the INVU is actually a 15 inch widescreen, with an all black finish. It's much nicer than the Amazon photo. It has 1 HDMI input, 1 Component Video input, a 3.5mm stereo headphone output (which is nice when I want to connect my iPod headphones directly to the TV), and the other basic inputs/outputs most TVs have. I have my INVU connected via HDMI to my Comcast DVR. I have the DVR sitting on the base of the stand.
PROS: - Has all the inputs and outputs I need (HDMI, Component Video, Coax In, Headphone out, etc) - TV has a nice, black finish - The stand is sturdy and can be raised and lowered quite easily - Easy to setup - took about 15-30 minutes - Remote control is user-friendly, although I don't actually use it because I programmed my Comcast DVR remote to work with the TV. CONS: - Speaker sound is not great. There is zero bass. However, I plug my headphones directly into the TV which works well for me. - Off angle viewing is poor. You have to watch the tv straight on for a good picture. The image gets washed out if you are off angle. This is not really an issue though because I always watch the TV head on while running on my treadmill. All in all, this is the only good treadmill tv I could find on the market. And so far I am pleased. |
