Book Description

This book tells the iodine story that has become especially important as radiation levels increase because of the nuclear disaster in Japan. Everyone needs to hear the iodine story for there is nothing more important in the entire world now than taking our daily iodine supplements. An appropriate public health response to the nuclear disaster in Japan starts with iodine because any lack of the nutritional type will attract the radioactive type like honey attracts bees. The last thing anyone wants to be walking around with is a thyroid so starving for iodine it will take on the nasty radioactive isotope of iodine instead. It is very important to know that Dr. David Brownstein has tested 5,000 of his patients and has found out that 95 percent of them are iodine deficient and other iodine researchers he has talked to have found similar trends in their patients as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars better books April 21, 2013
I suggest "Iodine: Why you need it, Why you can't live without it" by David Brownstein and " The Iodine Crisis: What You Don't Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life" by Lynne Farrow (Brownstein wrote the foreword here too).

Be aware that Lugol's is now required to be made with sodium iodide, not potassium iodide. It does not go into the cells. If you cannot find a proper Lugol's. get instead: Liqui Dulse (Bernard Jensen's)

It's also worth knowing that Sircus has written some excellent books: "Sodium Bicarbonate - Full Medical Review" and "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy: A New Modality for the Maintenance of Health".

In "Transdermal Magnesium Therapy" he explains the vital importance of magnesium chloride (magnesium oil). In the Sodium Bicarbonate book he shows how the humble baking soda (the stuff you can buy in the stores) can even heal cancer as well as diabetes and many other health problems. Sodium bicarbonate is very good for pH (acidity) of the body, which is increasingly becoming understood as a marker of health. Sircus claims that the two together work even better and with iodine - as lugol's - can heal almost anything - and all are cheap to buy.

2014 note: Sircus has published the excellent "Treatment Essentials" this year, setting his basic protocols for powerful and effective home treatments that can help with most pain and can even address late-stage cancer and all are perfectly legal to use for yourself and others. Also, the later "Water Based Medicine" may be his best book yet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good info, but over and over and over December 11, 2012

The information in this book is good, but its presentation is horrendous. The author just keeps saying the same things in different ways. After the first couple of chapters the rest of the book feels like a review.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy the Kindle version September 17, 2012
The kindle edition does not have a table of contents, making it impossible to navigate short of creating a bookmark for every chapter of interest. On top of that, information is presented in a rather disorganized way; I think Dr Sircus would reach more readers if he dropped the alarmist, conspiracy theorist tone. Still, If you can sift through the disorganized format and repetition, you will find a lot of valuable information.

Not the most informative book I've ever read and many, many pages used for information that could have been condensed to a smaller book because of all the repition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A different viewpoint October 2, 2013

The author brings back the value of taking iodine daily. A lot of modern diseases could be prevented if we made sure to have enough iodine. American girls start showing signs of low thyroid functions around the age of 13. They are tired, often lethargic without much drive and start putting weight on especially around the waist.
In 1822 a French doctor identified the lack of iodine with low thyroid function. He prepared a solution, Lugol's tincture. It's very hard on the stomach. Nowadays scientists have come up with a way to take enough iodine without bowel irritation. It's a great book. It may give you the answer to your problem.

2.0 out of 5 stars I will continue reading it, but look what i found. November 22, 2013

In location 560 it is mentioned: "Women are naturally prone to iodine deficiencies. That's because the thyroid gland in women is twince as large as in men." After reading that i went and googled to see if this is a fact. Unfortunately its not. Men have larger thyroids.. I am taking 1-2mg per day, Lugol, having read Brownstein. I wonder if I should stop after seeing such statements that are clearly false. Just my 2 cent.
