Just what I wanted,
This review is from: Iodine Tincture First Aid Antiseptic-2% USP, By Preferred Plus - 1 Oz (Health and Beauty)
This iodine is exactly what I wanted in order to be able to test for iodine deficiency, which I have read is much more prevalent than most realize. I know that iodine is good for other things, too, but the testing is what I wanted it for. Remember, this form is NOT for internal usage! There are other products, like Lugol's and Iosol, which are.

Slowly been putting together a few survival kits. While there's some debate about using Iodine vs chlorine/bleach for water treatment especially for longterm use, I'm a big believer in having a few different solutions around the house, in my car and at camp. This Iodine tincture is designed for topical treatment (largely cleaning a wound), but has a dual purpose of being able to treat water for bacteria and make it drinkable (even though it says it's a poison). Now, I wouldn't want to do this long term....but for a 72 hour survival situation, this liquid iodine is a handy piece of kit with a few different uses, and versatility is clutch in emergency or survival situations. I would read up on precisely how to treat water and the effects/benefits/comparison between iodine vs chlorine/bleach based treatments (as well as physical filters for water)...as there are a lot of pros and cons, but as a first-aid topical treatment, Iodine is great. Has a long shelf-life. It can stain and there are clear versions of Iodine, but I like being able to "see" where the Iodine goes.

Check with your doctor Before Trying Anything Like This. Because It Worked For Me Does Not Mean It Will Work For You!***
At first notice it looks like a bump under the skin, sortof hard mushy to touch - just normal skin color with a small dark sunk-in center. About the size of a quarter. If you notice it right away it will be numb, but if you only find it after it gets really burny itchy it will have rotted way down inside. I get it open right away and get all the yellow green thick pus out with a q-tip and peroxide. Then get the bite under Just as hot water as I can for as long as I can stand it to break down the poison from the bite. I start with warm running water under the shower and keep making it a little bit hotter and a little bit hotter till I just can not take it any hotter. Right on the opened up bite wound. It burns and feels squirmy and hurts but I keep at it till I feel it draw and pucker. I soap right in the wound with lye soap while the water is running. Then while it is soft from boiling I start putting medicine on in layers. I start with peroxide on a q-tip and twirl it in the wound to get any dead flesh out of there. Next Betadine/Providone surgical scrub on a q-tip twirling. Then rubbing alcohol on a q-tip twirling. Then 2-3% iodine on a q-tip twirling. The first couple of dressings i then pack the wound with salt - just table salt - to dry out the runny juicy slime in the wound. After a couple times if it looks dry I pack the wound with Polysporin. Three times a day for the boiling and layered medicine. And I take a good multi-vitamin to heal it from the inside as well. It takes from a month to a year for meat to slowly grow back and fill in the wound. I have had two bites on my left leg and I know about where they were but really can not find exactly the places. The bite on my right temple made my muscles seize up on the side of my head and I could not hardly blink for about a day at all and I got a headache and a half. It works for me but I am Not, repeat, Not saying anyone else should try this method. I am not telling anyone to try this treatment - just saying it worked for me. Go to your doctor and have it checked out by your doctor. I called my doctor and was told they were booked up and go to the emergency room. Well - other states have rodeos, bullfights, bear wrassling and stuff, but here in Florida we have Emergency Rooms. And I was too sick for an emergency room visitation so I had to figure this treatment out on my own. P. S. S.

The image of this product clearly shows a label that states the product is "colorless." It is not. It is red/orange in color, which is not what I wanted or thought I was ordering. I was very disappointed in the waste of time!

I wish the manufacturers would put this in a larger size--double and that it was in a glass bottle to keep it lasting longer. Also this comes with the "wand" instead of a dropper. I used to have this stuff all over as a kid so it brought back memories. Still I wish the makers would take my suggestions! Good product, I keep it on hand mainly to treat water should I need to--plastic containers would make this handy for hikers.

I bought it like the first reviewer, to check if I have an iodine deficiency. I do but it's not as bad as some people. So now I will get the nascent iodine and keep this one for testing periodically.
