5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product
My elderly husband (80 years) and I (72 years) recently started taking this iodine supplement after reading a book on the subject. My husband is sprinting better than before and thinks that he is less prone to weight gain than previously. I find that I have more energy and less craving for sweets. 2.0 out of 5 stars Iodoral 90 tabs
Unfortunatly, I only took this for 2 days. By the end of the second day I had hives on my neck and some blotchy, red acne like marks on one side of my face. I also had a sinus headache from it but this was mentioned in the side effects. I think that this is way too strong for me personally so I think I will be looking for something more natural like Kelp (which also...

I have had thyroid tests that are in the low normal range for a long time. I haven't had more blood work done yet but I seem to have more energy and I'm feeling better overall.

It took me a full year of Google searches and running into someone else who had the same problems before I figured out that most of my various annoying symptoms could be traced to a sluggish thyroid (acceptable lab results can be misleading). It never occurred to me that I could have an iodine deficiency in a developed country, and with the reasonable eating habits I have!

Making the long story short, I decided to experiment and have bought Iodoral about a month ago - and will be coming back for more for the rest of my life (or until US goes back to using iodine instead of bromine compounds in food).

It's been too short a time to see the full effects, but so far, the results have been nothing short of amazing!

-The same day I took my first pill and ever since, my energy levels came back to normal. I wake up early in the morning and am still active late in the evening. Before Iodoral, I couldn't drag myself out of the bed, and was unbearably exhausted by 8pm. I also can't wait to go for a walk or do some exercise.

-My hairdresser have commented that she sees a lot of new hair growth. (My hair has been thinning for a couple of years - I thought it was pre-menopause.)

-My mood has improved tremendously. I'm under a lot of stress, and had thought that my mild (unmedicated) depression is a natural consequence. Apparently, it's not :-).

Even some of the symptoms that should have nothing to do with Iodine have improved:

-I have gall stones, and have been experiencing digestive problems I thought connected to it for over a year. Within a few days of taking Iodoral, my digestion is back to its happy normal. Even my gall bladder is not acting up so much any more (much less pain and discomfort).

-The hot flashes I've resigned myself to as a part of pre-menopause problems are all but gone. When one happens (rarely), it's much milder. PMS mood changes are also barely noticeable now.

Note: I take one pill in the morning. After I took the first one, I experienced some of the side-effects of mild iodine overdose - strange taste, somewhat rapid heartbeat and mild pain in thyroid, but none of this repeated down the line. Guess my body just needed to adjust. I always take it in the morning, as I get too "hyper" to sleep if I do it in the evening.

I can't recommend Iodoral enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good item! Ignore the propaganda!, August 4, 2010

This review is from: Iodoral 12.5 mg 90 tabs (Health and Beauty)
I have had positive effect from this item. The only negative effect one could have, is with immediate, high-dose, several tablets a day, and that is *not* due to the iodine. Rather it is due to your own high level of toxicity; and for that I refer to studies from doctors Guy Abraham and David Brownstein.

It is proved when one takes iodine in 25mg+ quantities per day (two tablets), it starts out flushing the built-up heavier halides, halogens which have a higher atomic weight, such as bromides. The circulating halogens in the blood-stream, mostly bromides, are the source of (negative) side-effects; *not* the iodine.

These days people, especially americans, have so many halides absorbed, that with immediate high doses, some undesirable short-term results can happen:

>> although evidence suggestions this is not what happened with the 'one-horse' negative reviewer above. Instead, I firmly believe this is propaganda. Note: there are no other reviews by that reviewer, and the text reads like baseless claims. <<

Through so-called 'flame retardant' in clothing, mattresses and furniture; through use of bromides in manufacture of sodas and breads and other foods (replacing iodine since the 1950's), and heavy use of fluoride in water systems and 'oral care', along with incorrect use of chlorine/chlorides in water 'treatment', among other things, forming chloroform when mixed with the chemically-organic nutrients in the water, most people in this situations have a body flooded with toxic halides. The tiny amount, usually 0.050mg, they receive of iodine through diet, simply is not detectable.

By comparison, people eating japan-grown food on a traditional diet, get an average of 13mg a day, 260x more. Some of this is from farmers using seaweed in compost. They also do not have fluoridated and chlorinated water to compete with iodine absorption.

Keep these scientific facts in mind and heart, when comparing it to the propaganda.

Excellent product. Everyone needs Iodine & most do not know this.
Regained a lot of energy back when I started taking it. I take one
tablet every morning. Watch the dosage & don't over do it. One tablet
is enough. There can be side effects if you take a large dose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Iodine is a must, April 8, 2009

This review is from: Iodoral 12.5 mg 90 tabs (Health and Beauty)
I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland (hypo-thyroidism) years ago and have been taking thyroid medication ever since. Despite medication however, I've never felt "my old self." Looking for answers that went deeper than lab test results (i.e. TSH test), I was guided to this product--Iodoral (a combination of iodine/iodide). I began taking this supplement daily. About a month later, I noticed that I hadn't had a headache in weeks. In the past, I got headaches (NOT migraines)quite often. I figured these headaches were the result of a lack of sleep. However, my sleep habits (sadly) hadn't changed. The only thing I was doing different was taking Iodoral daily. It has been almost six months now that I've been taking Iodoral and I've only experienced a few headaches in that time. I'm convinced that Iodoral is responsible for this improvement. I have since come to learn just how crucial iodine is to our bodies. Everyone ought to take iodine as part of his/her daily vitamin regiment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Iodoral....., February 2, 2011

Since I have always had cold hands and feet, a friend of mine told me about Iodoral. She handed me a book about it and said "read this, it might help". Over 50 years of icy fingers and even colder feet, this book made some claims about ending my frozen world. So, what the heck--I started using it and within a few days I could tell the difference. That was over two years ago!!!! Now, my husband laughs at me (in a good way) when we're in bed--he can actually touch my feet and hands without shivering to death. As a matter of fact, my extremities are now warmer than his!!!!!!!! I can actually go barefooted without clenching my teeth!

As a sidebar and as a natural skeptic, about a month ago, I decided to do an experiment and see if it works or is this a placebo effect. So, I stopped taking Iodoral for a week. Sure enough, my hands and feet went right back to freezing again. So much for questioning what works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Iodoral for hypothryoidism, April 5, 2010

This review is from: Iodoral 12.5 mg 90 tabs (Health and Beauty)
I took this for diagnosed hypothyroidism instead of the presciption. I also took my regular supplements more seriously, and took nutritional shakes with protein, seeds and vegies, but I think the Iodoral was what made the big difference. After about 2 months, my thyroid tests returned normal and I had also lost a few pounds. I started by taking two a day, but changed to one a day. My fingernails became stronger, but they were also getting a "dirty" appearance. That went away when I cut back on the dosage. I think one a day is enough for my 155 lb body. I will continue to take this, I think it has been helpful. I have also changed back to iodized salt for cooking and table use for my family's benefit, now that I see how important iodine is!
