It works, but design is poor,

I use this for PowerPoint presentations. It does work, but it's no better and in some ways not as good as the wireless optical mouse I was using before. With it, too, I could scroll through slides without placing the device on a surface. The poor design is with the battery, in two respects. One, the infrared light often goes on while the device is stored, so if you aren't careful, the battery will get used up very fast. Second and worse, you need a small screwdriver to open the battery case. So even if you are as obsessive as I was and have extra batteries on hand for a presentation, you won't be able to use this device unless you also remember to carry a small screwdriver. Every other battery-operated device I have opens without a screwdriver, but this one--designed precisely to be used on the road--requires a screwdriver! If you want to use this with PowerPoint to scroll backward, it's not as easy as it was with my scroll mouse. But it will work if you set up PowerPoint so that the right click of the mouse goes back instead of showing a menu. I can't seem to find what menu item in PowerPoint I used to do this, but it's there somewhere. In sum, if you don't already have a wireless device for presentations or if you need longer distance than you get with a wireless optical mouse, you might consider this. If they fix the battery problem it would be fine.

This product works well the first and only time I used it, however I do have 3 problems with it.First, the laser pointer button is placed on top of the unit which when packed away in your computer bag, it will be depressed and it will drain your battery. Second, the battery compartment needs a screw driver to open. Third and most important, the first time I used it in a large public presentation in Dallas, I left the receiver in the auditorium and could not find it later. When I contacted the manufacturer to buy a replacement receiver, I was told I could not do that. I have to buy a complete unit again. Other companies allow you to buy replacement parts. Now, I am shopping for a better device.

This mouse has the scroll ball, USB, and lazar pointer. I teach in large halls and it has no problem going the distance. Only con is you need a small screwdriver to change the battery. Other than that, It truly is one of a kind. I have used in it in over 100 computers and it always works.

I have several friends that bought this same item. It has worked well for them. Mine has issues from 10ft+. Battery compartment is a real pain to open. Eats batteries alive.

It looked good in the package and did feel good in my hand but it felt and looked cheap. It is all plastic and the mouse ball was very loose plus it is very large in your hand. In my opinion it is a waste of money.
When the item arrived and I unpacked it the serial number was smudge so you could not register the product. If your looking for a remote for your presentation I would recommend the Kesington remote. It felt great, eazy to use including the laser pointer, plus the usb adapter fits right inside the remote when you are not using it so you can't lose it. When not in use the battery turns off saving your battery.

Great idea, but...,

It is an excellent device for power point presentations... But after ONE MONTH of use, it did not want to work anymore. Only the laser still works, but, who wants that huge pointer without the mouse...?
One more thing: The trigger should be the laser pointer, and the middle button should be the "previous slide" button. Iogear may build a fantastic tool if they follow this modest suggestion...

IOGear RF Mouse,

I love this product. The screwdriver thing is an annoyance but let's get real...is it a big deal? No. The advantage of this product over ALL other presenters is, this device is a TOTALLY wireless mouse you can use anywhere! If you need to demonstrate any computer application to an audience, you need a mouse. Using this device, you can walk around the room and have complete control of the application! Normal wireless presenters usually don't work as a full-blown mouse, or if they do, they are clumsy. The Phaser has full mouse capability AND you can use it as a presenter. So what is the downside? THE UNIT IS NOT RECHARGABLE! BOO!! It eats batteries like candy so you ALWAYS need about 6 or 8 extra sets of batteries. If IOGear ever made this unit rechargable, it would be the perfect mouse. (and for the other folks, maybe they could include a screw driver, too!)

Most of what other reviewers said is right. Just never drop it on a hard floor. Plus, I can read my Serial number.
It seems to be for large hands, left or right. It is a first step toward a good product. The next generation needs a no-tools battery door or a drop-in battery charger and true 50-foot range. Mine dies at 8 feet away. The Phaser's internal antenna is not omnidirectional. If you point it at 4 or 8 o'clock with respect to the receiver, it will not work. I like it anyway.

This is a great product but care must be taken or it will stop working. It dropped a few times from my desk and now it only scrolls up and down.

Great Mouse for the price!,

For someone who is in the market for a gyration air mouse - this is a fantastic second choice, or First! (This one costs a lot less) The mouse is very comfortable the way it form fits to your hand. I actually like it better than "Air" mice. The roller ball is much more appealling than waiving your arm in the air. There are three minor improvments that can be made: It is not as solid as gyration and feels like a cheap plastic toy at first. You have to punch the little, tiny, miniscule connect button on the bottom each and every time you use it. Also, you cannot optionally use it on a surface. In your lap, standing up, but cannot be used as a traditional mouse.
