I got this drive, and it was great. It was faster than I expected in 3.0, amazingly fast! Decently small size, it totally delivers.
Now for the best part. The laptop I bought that this was to go with, died, it has been thru RMA after RMA. Which means the drive sat in my back pack. I had left the usb cable plugged into it, like a moron. When the laptop came back, I pulled the drive out, and it didn't work! I had broken the usb connector inside the case! I have some work stuff on this drive and could not send it out with that stuff still on there, and this drive is NOT made to be taken apart. So I pried the case open and removed the drive, doing some damage to the case in the process. I managed to get my data off the drive.
I then figured I would try to contact iomega to just get a replacement for the usb controller board. I contacted them thru their online live chat function. I told them that I broke it, then I took it apart voiding the warranty. This is the exact quote from the customer service rep.

"iomega: We would be able to do this as a one time replacement. You are correct this does void the warranty but because you were honest about it we will replace the drive for you."

I was simply amazed. I told them I broke it, and that I voided the warranty, and they are still going to replace it!!
From now on, I am always going to try to get the iomega version of anything that I need if its something they manufacture. That customer service is worth the dollar here or there extra their product may cost (even tho this drive was one of the cheaper options there was)

Was looking for one that needs no external power. This was a replacement of Buffalo ministation cobalt which I had for less than 2 months. The ego portable external is a good choice for smooth run, fast transfers and great price. Am a satisfied customer.

It's a lightening in a small pack. Had loads of video editing work which took only half the usual time as on other highspeed hard drives on USB 2.0. Delivers more than expected.

I have had this drive for a couple of months now, and I bought it along with BounceBack Ultimate CMS BounceBack Ultimate 9.2 Backup and Instant Recovery Software. Prior to this purchase, I had backed up my old Toshiba (about 40 GBs of data)on a USB 2.0 80 gig drive. It normally took about 10 hours. I got my new ASUS ASUS N71JQ-A1 17.3-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Dark Brown) and decided to use the USB 3.0 port with the Iomega eGo 500 GB drive. I currently have 61 gigs on the primary drive along with the system info, and to my astonishment, BounceBack and Iomega made me a mirror image of the drive in one hour and twenty-eight minutes!!! I have since run the computer off that drive, so I know it's all there. Amazing. My deepest thanks to Iomega and BounceBack!You have my undying devotion! Sorry for all the emotion, but when products you buy actually do what they say these days, you have to express your joy.

I wanted an external HD to use with my WDTV and sometimes backup my photos, and this Iomega makes all this things without any problem, and with an incredible speed! Good construction and totally reliable. I'll buy a 1Tb in near future.

I was not familiar with External Hard Drives but after researching this, I found that the Iomega was the best for me. I backed up all my pix in no time. Good drive but having difficulty determining whether the vClone feature works with Vista 64-bit OS. Haven't tried it with Windows 7 64-bit yet. Even without vClone, it's still a good drive at a good price.

Good things are the USB 3.0 standards maintained in speeds and performance. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 also makes it better. It is compact too. For the bad side, the cord length is short..but that's not a deterrent to utility.

We have installed several of these drives on our office computers and they
have been very impressive. The speed was phenomenal. On one of our
systems we installed as a "C" drive (Am3 processor, 4 GB DDR3, Internal
USB 3.0 Port, Windows XP SP3).. and it immediately recognized it.
These drives will be on our future inventories!

This drive is very fast when transfering data to and from the computer. It works very well with the Buffalo USB 3.0 card I purchased. Great for backing up your computer.
