5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny and Terrific
This little gizmo is so amazing! I bought it as a gift for my husband who travels a lot for work, and having the ability to load all the files he needs for a trip onto something the size of a keychain is so helpful. Now, instead of burning CDs, which he can't rewrite, he just plugs this little job in, and it's all there. Never a glitch! And, the different colored clips...

What's your data worth? If it's not much you probably don't need to carry it with you. If it's actually valuable, then this drive is not for you.

I loved this drive for the first couple of months. Then the problems surfaced. The housing and keyring attachment on this drive are so flimsy you'll get maybe 3 months use before it falls apart. If you're lucky...

I loved this drive for the first couple of months. Then the problems surfaced. The housing and keyring attachment on this drive are so flimsy you'll get maybe 3 months use before it falls apart. If you're lucky you'll notice as soon as it happens. If not, you'll just notice that the drive has fallen out of the housing somewhere, or else the housing has separated from your keychain.

I'd recommend getting something more solid.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, But clip is too loose., May 28, 2009

Its a USB Flash drive. It holds Data. It works well. No driver intallation issues. What else is there?

512MB is a small drive space these days, but we needed to find a drive that would still work on a Windows98 system, which this does.

Because it is physically small it might be more easily lost - especially due to my one main complaint for this drive: the rotating clip that covers the USB jack slips off much too easily and often, which means even if clipped to a keychain that drive is going to fall off sooner or later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Size, But Cheap Keychain, October 24, 2005
This review is from: Iomega 512 MB Micro Mini USB 2.0 Flash Drive (33105) (Personal Computers)
Love the drive for its size and ease of use. Though the cheap plastic cover with the little metal loop for connecting to your keychain can easily break. I have had mine for a few month of with my other keys. The other day is just completely came off the loop and stayed in my pocket. Could have been worse though.

Iomega needs to make thing flip cover metal and not detachable from the drive itself. Then this would be the perfect drive.

I Travel alot for 2-3 months at a time and when packing, space is everything. I can wear this around my neck when going through the airport. Take my info from computer to computer with out filling my pocket. one thing though is, it doesn't have a air tight usb cover. so it collects dust in the usb connection but all in all it is worth it. to get 5 stars it would need a cover to keep fine debris like dust out

5.0 out of 5 stars Great portable storage in a tiny package, October 1, 2005
This review is from: Iomega 512 MB Micro Mini USB 2.0 Flash Drive (33105) (Personal Computers)
These little usb jump drives are fantastic. I did some research before purchasing since I had observed other people having troubles with usb drives from other manufacturers. I wanted to make sure the one I bought wouldn't give out on me after just a little use and at a bad time. PCMag said this one was very reliable and I have definitely found all my Iomega drives to be so.

I juggle my work between two desktop PC's and a laptop. With the Iomega jumpdrive, whatever I am working on is always with me. I no longer need to carry around a stack of floppy disks or worry that the next computer I use won't burn to the CD I have with me. It's also useful when I need to plug into a public computer somewhere for a print job.

The handy keychain link allows me to clip it into my backpack, rolling laptop case, or purse and not be afraid it is going to fall out or get lost. And unlike the earlier Iomega Micro drive (not micro mini), the keychain attachment won't lose it's tension and fall off. That has happened to me several times - I ultimately lost the keychain attachment on an airplane with a huge person next to me overflowing into my seat and I wasn't able to search the floor till after the plane landed. By that time it was long gone.

Yes, I'm addicted to these little drives. I started with a 256 MB Mini and am currently using almost all of the available storage. I purchased several 512 MB Micro Mini's for myself and colleagues at the end of our 4-year longitudinal research project so that we would all have access to a complete set of records regardless of where our computers end up now that the grant funding is over. And now I've started using another 512 MB Micro Mini for new projects. I gave a 1 GB Iomega Micro Mini to my best friend for a birthday gift. He is working on filling it up with mp3 music files. So as you'd expect from a good quality storage medium it works great with written documents, graphics, statistical output, pictures, music, etc. And the amount of data you can put on a 512 MB drive is staggering.

Most days I carry at least two of my three Iomega drives to and from work without adding appreciable weight (unlike floppy's or CD's) to my backpack or purse, etc. The weight issue is a big deal to me since I'm a slightly built weakling who insists on carrying an office with me wherever I go. If you want reliable portable storage these things are great. But of course I do make backup copies on my pc and laptop harddrives regularly because I'm an experienced paranoid computer user. For the last 3 years I haven't needed the backups.

There are only two negative things I can say. The first is that I haven't figured out how to use the "active" whatever software that comes on the drive. But I haven't tried very hard either as I haven't figured out why I might need it. The second is that the cover often flops around exposing the usb connection.

These things are just great.
