I purchased the Ionic Pro a few months ago to help alleviate litter box odor. It was smaller than expected and is really not a "convenient" product. It does not have an electrical cord. It plugs directly into the electrical outlet. So it is really difficult to place it exactly where you want it to be and thus, its effectiveness could be hampered.

It does a good job on most odors most of the time--minimal to slight odors. However, when there is a particularly stong odor, the product is less effective. If you want to combat strong odors, I would suggest purchasing one of the more powerful/bigger Ionic products.

I've owned 3 of these in past years, purchased at Home Depot and Walmart. Until this recent purchase (May 2010), I hadn't bought one since 2007. They are no longer available in retail stores, probably because a couple years ago the EPA asked retailers to curtail the sale of ozone-emitting devices. They didn't ban them outright, they just said that too much ozone is unhealthy and could you please make it harder to buy ozone generating gadgets, pretty please?

Enter the new, dis-improved Ionic Pro. The reason I used to like this little device is because it used to make a lot of ozone. Plug it in for a day, and there was plenty of ozone to deodorize a cat box contaminated room, or a smelly closet, or a living room after a party. Now it takes 3 days to get enough ozone generated to smell it in a closed closet. The device appears to have been neutered in order to generate a minimum of ozone.

This reviewed product is small (about 10" x 4" x 3"), plugs into a standard U.S. 120V outlet, and includes a night light that cannot be switched off when the device is in use. It has somewhat complicated maintenance instructions for cleaning, because the tiny wires used for ozone generation must be kept clean, pretty much on a weekly basis, in order to work at all.

For those of us who want to use ozone for its deodorizing and disinfecting properties, these products should not be difficult to obtain, since they are legal and effective. Unfortunately, the EPA polite semi-ban means that you are now forced to buy such things from scammy, overpriced multi-level companies and individuals, rather than from retailers. I am unable to find this device or similar ones from any other online retailer than Amazon.com. I will be returning mine, because it doesn't work as advertised.

As a point of education, the technology used in ozone production is very simple and cheap and has been around a long time. There is no reason why you should pay hundreds of dollars for an effective device. Another point is that ozone is a respiratory irritant in sufficient quantities. So if you use an ozone generator, you should only use it as needed, and you should air the room out with fresh air between uses.

I just bought this item at a local walmart since it was on sale. Figured if it didn't work like most of these air purifiers end up I can just walk in and return it.

I plugged it in my spare bathroom where I keep my cat food, spare litter and cat box. That room has never smelt so good. Its been about 4 days and I actually forgot to clean the box 1 or 2 times since I never smell it anymore.

This item needs no filters just wash it once a week or so depending on exposure to debris. It also provides a night light. However the light is really weak so do buy this item for the light. Over all just under a week in and I am very satisfied with this product. This item is also ULTRA SILENT. I mean the only way I know it is on is I switched it on, and later that day the stink of the room is mysteriously gone!!

I use this near my car litter box. Everytime I clean it out there is always dust in it building up. It is good for a little area.

This is the second one of these I purchased. When you walk near it the air smells like you walked past an open window. I have a dog and three cats. I also smoke. I put one in the kitchen and one by the couch. It helps a lot. The only draw back is that you have to wipe the rods often.

I bought this to help keep the air cleaner in my home office to try to reduce the amount of dust that gathers.
After the first day, I checked to see how much dirt had accumulated, and there was virtually nothing.
The product ran silently for two days and did emit an odor which smelled like a mixture of canned air and the odor of plastic blister packs so many products are sold in (including this one)
Then on the third day of use, I started hearing a zapping sound in the office which I traced to the Ionic Pro unit. Upon further inspection, it was SPARKING inside, so I disconnected it, and am returning it.

Nice little guy. Its good in our very small bathroom. No more musty smell after we put it in. Not bad at all for the price. It emits a little bit of Ozone too. I love that smell.

Easy to clean as well.

I recommend this to anyone who has a stinky closet or a slight must odor in your bathroom!

I put this in my bedroom and its wonderful! You do have to clean about every week or so but its so worth it. For me, I know I have to clean it when it starts becoming 'noisy'. I cannot breathe at night without this thing plugged into the wall. This product is made for a closet but its perfect for a small closed in room. A must have. Would definitely purchase the larger one for the whole house.

I bought this for our computer room. We keep the cat litter box in the closet in this room, and the whole room used to smell like the cat box. Now I smell nothing. Its amazing how quickly this removes the odor from the air. It runs very quietly, and the nightlight is very handy. Its easy to clean, usually about once a week. Its in an average-sized room and it does a great job.

I have two of these units I like them so much. They are good for the bathroom and offer that wonderful ozone rain scent. I have another unit in the front room of my small apartment and it contributes to a sense of well being in a small space. Energy efficient, a little fussy to clean, better than any fake air freshener scent and good for you!
