It works really well in my Red PT Cruiser,

This review is from: Ionic Pro CAC1 Car Ionizer (Kitchen)
I'm sort of baffled to see so many negative reviews of this product. I bought one several months ago and love it. As someone with two professional-grade ion/ozone generators that I use in my home (so, yes, I know what ozone smells like) I can say I haven't found anything that works better for eliminating odors in my car. Most of the reviews are older, and I believe they have really improved this thing. One guy talked about how you have to turn it on and off when getting out of your car, but mine is automatic and only works while the car is powered.

Actually produces ions,

This product actually produces negative ions. It is rated much lower than the RoadPro car ionizer, yet the RoadPro did not set my ion detector off even when it was almost touching it.I think the difference is ozone output. Ozone is good for removing odors. It can be harmful if you get too much. The RoadPro seems to produce more ozone but no significant ions. At least the Ionic Pro actually produces ions. However, if you were considering the Ionic Pro for negative ion therapy, forget it. I would estimate the output of ions at 2 feet to be about 1,500 per cm3. For reference, standing near Niagra Falls is 100,000 per cm3. Most studies on negative ion therapy show it takes a lot of ions to have an effect.
