We chose this model because it was reputed to clear the air of not only dust and allergens but mold as well which was a key selling point. Another selling point was that it did not require replaceable filters. The unit is quiet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected benefits, August 18, 2010

We chose this model because it was reputed to clear the air of not only dust and allergens but mold as well which was a key selling point. Another selling point was that it did not require replaceable filters. The unit is quiet.

Particles collect on flat metal slats and a light comes on that tells you it needs cleaning. The slats are quite dirty when cleaning time comes so you know it's collecting something.

We've found however that our unit starts to make a crackly noise sort of like static electricity when the slats need to be cleaned, long before the cleaning light comes on. So we clean it when the static noise comes instead of waiting.

It's easy to clean. The slat house pops right out and you wipe it down with a damp cloth or paper towels. The towels are always black with whatever the unit has collected from the air which really makes you wonder what's in the air.

The unexpected benefit is that we don't need to dust as often. The area stays much cleaner. I wish I could put several more throughout the house just for this benefit alone! Anything that makes cleaning easier is a big plus in my book!

5.0 out of 5 stars This item can NOT be beat!, August 8, 2010
This review is from: Ionic Pro %2D TA500 %2D 90IP01TA01 Room Air Purifier (Kitchen)
I originally bought this for my mother who had severe breathing problems. It is fabulous! It worked great for her and I am now using in my home. It by far surpasses ALL of the other air units I have purchased... hepa filters, hunter, air tamers...

It is silent until it needs to be cleaned - and when you clean it, the debris is so disgusting you know it is working!!!

I am buying more for my childrens rooms, as they dont like the sound of the air pulling purifiers.
100% superb product.

Ionic Pro Turbo - Buyer beware. Unit worked OK for about one month, and then cleaning frequency increased until we were doing a Deep Cleaning daily, as the unit would just sit and squeal. Contacted Customer Service, which is really an oxymoron, because there was no "service" involved. After days of sitting on hold, leaving messages trying to get a hold of a Customer Service Rep, as they never returned calls, they authorize the return of my defective unit for exchange. Now for the warranty, it does not cover the cost to return the unit to CA, which I could accept under protest, but then upon receipt of the defective unit you need to call them and provide them with a credit card to cover their $39.95 processing fee ...excuse me ... I have to pay additional costs for a defective unit? Unit is made in China; the product probably costs less than $39.95. I'm cutting my losses and dumping my unit in the trash, I'll find a real company and a unit that actually works as advertised.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is a total lemon, April 5, 2011
This review is from: Ionic Pro %2D TA500 %2D 90IP01TA01 Room Air Purifier (Kitchen)
It started making noises from the very first week. High pitched noises and it was clean. The product registration card was returned as undeliverable by the post office. This was a pre printed postcard. This made me very leary so I contacted the company and was instructed to go online for the registration process. Called the company the other day because the unit is still making high pitched noises and sounds like something is caught in it. I was told someone would return my call to troubleshoot. No return call as of today still. Don't waste your money buy a hepa.

I haven't owned it long enough to do a real review. It is a lot larger than I thought it would be and it is silent due to the fact it has no moving parts.
It also is very slow in turning over the air because it has no fan to force it.

I have now owned this product long enough to really know it -- Dont waste your money
Forget this product and get something with real filters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Large failure rate - Very poor customer service, January 17, 2012

Purchased unit and it worked as advertised removing airbourne particles. Needs constant cleaning. Again, seems to work as it should. Problem I had was with the metal removable electrodes which need to be cleaned. At first it was a bit difficult to remove but shortly there after I was unable to remove them because the clips would not disengage properly. Contacted customer service and after a lecture on how to remove I finally managed to convince them that the blades were defective. Since it was under warranty (if you want to call it that) they agreed to send me out replacement blades. But, Only aftyer I paid for shipping and handling. What? Well it was $10 bucks. no big deal but the unit was only 1 1/2 months old. I requested a manager how then proceeded to try to convince me that the shipping and handling was part of the warranty. But she did not know what the warranty really was because when I questioned her about it she had to "look it up". It does state that a shipping and handling fee MAY apply. Well it does, no matter what....Hate to see what it would cost to return the entire unnit for replacement. Meantime while on the phone, I was disconneted from the call. Called again and this time the rep required $4.95 for shipping. I basically told him I would return the unit to the store or purchase a new one and swap blades. Didn't phase them. So losing a customer and the cost of having to deal with a return is not an issue fro them. So, I decided to purchased another one and give it another shot. When I turned that one on, it went right to clean. Opened it up reseated the blades and started it up again. Same thing over and over. It was defective. Pulled the blade and swapped it with the old unit and still no go. Maybe I should have called customer service for some help ;-). These units are hit or miss, problably more of a miss. Work fine WHEN they work. Don't expect any real warrenty other than swapping units out at the store. I'm returning the product as I don't think it's worth $180.00 (per month) giving that they are so problematic. I can hire a boat load of cleaning ladies for that price..... Buyer beware...Look at the negative comments here and elsewhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why does it keep shutting off??, December 8, 2011
This review is from: Ionic Pro %2D TA500 %2D 90IP01TA01 Room Air Purifier (Kitchen)
WE bought this unit for our office - at first it was on and the air was great, then I noticed it was off - I turn it back on and within 30 minutes or so, it has turned off again. What's up with that? I looked in the booklet that came with it, but see nothing about an "auto" shut off.
