I was skeptical about purchasing this product, but now I am so happy that I did! I have pets and there is a smoker in the household and I must tell you for the size of this thing it is fantastic at eliminating orders. It works perfectly on a room 24X16 and smaller. I can place this product in a room and within in an hour or less the smell of smoke or any other bad order is completely GONE!! I recommend this product to anyone who has pets, allergies, or has a smoker in the house. This product eliminates the smell of pets, smoke and just about anything else. I will be purchasing another one, but this one has been working so well that I haven't been in a rush to buy another one just yet. It is worth every penny! Plus, the maintenance is a breeze..there are no disgusting filters to change or clean. You just pop out the Ionic lamp, wipe down with a clean, dry cloth and place it back in the machine. That's it!!

I use this product in my small massage room and the air quality is significantly improved. It's also not noisy.
What bothers me though, is the fact that the little fan in the top of the unit cannot be removed for easy cleaning with water. The spaces between the fan are too small to get a Q-tip in for cleaning, I might try a toothpick with a cloth - in any case, cleaning the fan is going to be time consuming.
Shipping was very slow, took almost 4 weeks. The warranty card which I sent in, came back because the PO Box was closed without a forwarding address. So I had to call the company to find out their new PO Box and send the card a second time.
Nevertheless, I do like this unit. I feel less tired from work since I use it.

I bought these three for my little boys' room, our master and one as a floater-more specifically to clear out the musty oder in our new house's bathroom. You are NOT supposed to use it in a high humidity area so I would remove it every time we would shower. It cleared out that perma mustiness in 24 hours. My two boys no longer wake up with snotty noses and the allergies my husband and I suffer are almost gone. The light is pretty bright which for us is a plus. The boys use it as a night light. The one in the master did seem too bright to begin with but the fresh clean, just after the rain smell makes it all worthwhile. As for my floater, I move it to whatever room I am working in at that time. The smell is so addictive. I love it and am thinking of buying a couple more, one for every room would be my dream come true!

I've had mine for about 8 months or so, and I believe this little machine is the main reason I have been healthier than I've been in years. So incredibly easy to clean too... just a wipe-down on the lamp every once in a while. No filters to mess with or spend extra money on. And easy to get used to sleeping with, which is great for a light sleeper like me. I keep it in my bedroom, and mostly use it at night. The fan is not loud, just a little white noise. The only slight issue I have with it is the on/off switch (on the top) lights up with a blue light when it is on, and it is a little more light than I like to have while I'm sleeping (I like it pitch black). But I have gotten used to it, and it doesn't usually bother me. It's not even as bright as a nightlight. If I were to buy another air purifier for another room, I would definitely get this exact one again.

It is the end of July 2010 and we purchased this unit on February 3, 2010 -- LESS than 6 months ago. It is in a small bedroom and within a couple of weeks the fan made the horrific noise others have complained about in these reviews. I did the canned air thing and things seemed fine -- for a couple of months. Now the noise is back and the airflow is NON-EXISTENT -- no amount of canned air or tilting or speed changing is correcting these problems. The unit is now worthless and from I've read I won't even bother with trying to get the company to stand behind their product. I see Amazon has stopped carrying this model -- good for them.

I purchased this unit in December, and have waited until mid-April to write my review (hoping things would get better). This product is FAR from the wonderful air purifier that is described. It does not have a powerful fan, it does not clean the air, it does not remove oders, it does not help my son with asthma - VERY frustrating! I have recently purchased both the Crane Shark and Penguin purifiers and am very satisfied with their functions! Do NOT purchase this unit if you are not going to be using it in an 8x8 office space (or smaller) as it will be fruitless. I do not like to leave bad reviews - hence waiting so long hoping things would work out better - but I would be remiss if I did not inform others about wasting their money on this item (Ionic Pro therapure 100 compact germicidal air sanitizer)!

For filtering, it only has a little foam filter. Luckily my problem was mainly one of mold, so it mostly does the trick. The product description and name are quite misleading.

This is a great air purifier! The uvc light bulb is huge compared to the one in the Germ Guardian GG1000 I have in my bedroom. Both work well. I got the Ionic Pro Therapure 100 because I wanted a cheap uvc air purifier for the dining room and had no wall space for another GG1000. This is a student house and we have our windows closed and sealed for the winter meaning cooking and other smells linger and the air tends to get fusty. Not anymore! I have the fan set on medium with the unit on 24/7 and that is enough to keep the air clean and fresh. Another plus is that the light bulb is replaceable.
Update: I have had this unit now for about a year. It is still going strong. Another benefit is that nobody has gotten sick all year. I like it enough that I think I will buy another one. Some people have complained about fan noise but I found if you take a vacuum cleaner hose and go over the outside vents with it and stick the hose inside where the light bulb goes (the light bulb module lifts out), you will suck out all the dust and the fan will get quiet again.
Also, for a while I was worried about finding a replacement bulb, because it looks like Therapure no longer makes this model of uvc air purifier and I could not find a replacement bulb for it on their website. However, the uvc light comes out of the module. It has two prongs on either end and unhooks from the module just like those fluorescent lights people use in their basements unhook. You can buy a replacement light bulb for about $15 in a pet supply store or online. You need to match the bulb in watts, prongs, and length, and make sure it is uvc. I would myself just put it in a little box and carry it with me to be sure I got the correct size.

I ordered this on the basis of these other reviews thinking this would work for my allergies but after it came I realized that this is just a sanitizer utilizing a UV light. I should have read the product description more closely. To help with allergies, one needs a dust and pollen attractor. This little thing seems to run well otherwise, I suppose, although I have only the manufacturer's claims and no way of knowing if it is killing any germs! It's only about 14 in. high so is very nicely styled and compact.

First and foremost, don't be deceived! The simple fact that this was listed in the ionizers category is just plain WRONG! Look carefully and the only place you'll notice the word "ION" is in the company name. What a scam!

With that in mind, does this unit work? Yes and no.
We use it in the cat-duty room... you know, the room where cats do their duty! The room is very dusty and its smell tends to permeate into the surrounding rooms, one of which is the home office. Not good!

So we got this unit and set it up. It did indeed clear up the odor, for the most part, within 24 hours. Odors still lingered in the small room itself, but they no longer traveled into the other rooms nearby.

However, 3 days later, I started hearing a strange noise coming from the room where the purifier was installed. (I was on the other side of the house when I heard it, and the TV was on.) Upon investigating, I discovered that it was the purifier! The fan/motor (on the low speed, mind you) was vibrating so wildly you would have mistaken it for a Deisel Semi-Truck engine!!!

Figuring it just needed to be cleaned, I researched on how to do so. That's when I discovered that the thing wasn't even a real air purifier, moreso jist a glorified disinfectant! What an outrage!!

We decided to keep the unit anyway, since it does work, and have now had it a couple months. I constantly have to clean the fan with canned air, which re-disburses the dust all over the place. How annoying (and I'm a germaphobe...can't standing breathing when I do this, nor in the surrounding rooms afterwards, until the dust settles).

Despite constantly cleaning this thing, it still raves like a mad lunatic even right after being "cleaned". My wife even made a diaper for it: a home-made filter that she wrapped around the intake vents. We also put a custom-cut circular carbon+hepa filter on the inside to catch any more dust that might have escaped the "diaper" filter. Even so, it still gets dust in the fans and still sounds like a Mac Truck or like a noisy weedwacker on good days, and it goes in and out of its quiet mode. So it's noisy for a good 25-50% of the day, at least.

Lately we've been smacking the unit which seems to be a temporary fix, but the unit really does seem to be just junk. Hope you find one that works better!
