Book Description

0894640402 978-0894640407 October 1, 1991 Original
In a simple, reader-friendly style, this introductory text describes the ionosphere and its effects on systems which use it, giving particular emphasis to HF communications as well as including sections on the single station location of HF transmitters and over-the horizon radar. It is written for those who must understand or operate these systems and for those who just enjoy knowing how things work. A must-read book for the military high-frequency communicator.

This review is from: The Ionosphere: Communications, Surveillance, and Direction Finding (Orbit: A Foundation Series) (Hardcover)
A great book to start for those new to this field. No physics background required. Covers HF propagation, communications, single station location, and over-the horizon radar including coordinate registration. Read this from cover to cover before prior to any other texts in this field.
Note that Amazon is currently showing a photo of the wrong book - the photo is showing an earlier text "Radio Amateurs Guide to the Ionosphere," not the stated "The Ionosphere: Communications, Surveillance, and Direction Finding." The latter contains most of not all the material in the former.
