Wonderful,
This review is from: Iphigenie En Tauride (Audio CD)
I cannot review this as an expert on Gluck. However, I think this recording is beautiful. I am admittedly a fan of Sir Thomas Allen's work, but I think I am not the only person who would say that he makes a wonderful Oreste. His singing is very masculine and powerful. He is fairly well-paired with John Aler, and Diana Montagu is a beautiful Iphigenia.

Iphigenie En Tauride is a 1985 Philips recording under the direction of John Eliot Gardiner who leads the Orchestre De L'Opera De Lyon and the Monteverdi Choir. Ernst Krause has written the music notes and the synopsis. Translated into English by Robert Jordan. Lyrics are available in French, German and English. Truly a fine performance and a splendid recording. Highly recommended indeed. 5/5.
