Book Description

September 15, 2006
"As one reflects upon Mr. Justice Rowe as a man and as a judge, what then are the qualities, the excellencies, and the gifts which come immediately to mind? I would put first and above all things an almost passionate sense of justice and fair play and the moral courage to go with it. He would not tolerate any abuse or excessive use of power, nor would he be afraid to oppose it . . ."

—Ramon D. Alberga, O.B.E., Q.C.

When Ira Rowe died in January of 2004, he was a towering giant of Caribbean jurisprudence. Considered by many to be the most influential post-independence judicial scholar of the Caribbean, he had been a judge in Jamaica, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and Belize.

Ira Rowe, Caribbean Lawyer, explores the accomplishments of this great man. Edited by son David, the book contains tributes from those who knew him best and reprints of some of his legal opinions. Readers who are unfamiliar with Mr. Rowe will be inspired by these accounts of the man, his life, and his work.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and engaging book, November 10, 2006

This review is from: Ira Rowe, Caribbean Lawyer: Materials, Tributes & Cases (Paperback)
It is wonderful to have a such a succint and engaging novel about a talented and intelligent jurist. So few books are written on Caribbean Jurisprudence, which makes this one all the more a treasure to be added to any library, large, small, private or public. It is my hope that all persons, laymen and lawyers a like, will find their way to this book and take the time to learn what molds and expands both Caribbean law and the jurists within such. Enjoy!
