Editorial Reviews

Tyner offers an interesting monograph for those familiar with Philippine history. . . . Recommended. (Choice)

An innovative and important integration of topics that have been treated separately. This book shows the important role of countries beyond the major powers in the War on Terrorism. (Flint, Colin)

James Tyner does a marvellous job of illuminating the Phillipines' role in the GWOT, its relationship with the USA and its hasty withdrawal after the Al Qaeda kidnapping of one its contract laborers. It is a topic that has really merited no scrutiny by most authors. The book offers, at least in this reader's view, insights between the Phillipine state role in the GWOT, its potential for economic gain and the Phillipine President's decision to withdraw basically on religious grounds! Recommended reading for those with a penchant for topics avoided by the mainstream - highly readable, impressively documented.
