Ireland's Golden Tenor,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ireland in Song (Audio CD)
Just beautiful! Frank Patterson, an Irish tenor singing Irish songs --just the way they were meant to be and he does a wonderful job. His 12-year-old son accompanies him on violin on a few songs and I could almost feel the pride coming from his father. This is my favorite Patterson recording.

Wonderful memories,

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in March, 2000. I own this CD and several others by him. I had hoped to be able to see him again, but his untimely death this month now makes that impossible. It is good to have this wonderful CD to remember him by. He always seemed happy and it comes through in every song. How lucky he was to have a job that he loved. How lucky we are to have CDs such as this to remember him by.

We play our CD over and over,
By A Customer

Any lover of traditional music will sing along to this wonderful collection. Patterson's voice is as smooth as silk and the orchestra never overwhelms him. The participation of his wife and son adds greatly to the charm of this CD. We love it.

Excellent Music - But where is the DVD?,
By mouseeneer "mouseeneer" (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews

I saw the video on PBS last year and fully enjoyed every music selection presented here. Six months after the broadcast, I finally found and bought the CD version from Amazon.com. All the music here deserve repeated listening. It is like fine wine that I never get tired of listening to the songs again and again. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys Irish music - even though I am not Irish. It is a must buy!
The company that releases this CD should also make it available in the DVD format. (Sorry, I haven't bought any video on VHS in fifteen years, really.) I can't wait to get the DVD if one of these days that it really becomes available.

This is a beautiful CD, Mr. Patterson's voice is clear and beautiful, I love the choice of songs in this CD, and I also appreciate the full symphonic music. Every number is a winner!

Ireland in Song is one of the most beautiful performances of Irish songs by Frank Patterson that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. This purchase is my second copy because of damage to my first one.
I am glad to have [...] to order this recording because it is no longer available in stores, and Frank Patterson has passed away.

Good but needs simpler arrangements,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ireland in Song (Audio CD)
Great voice and by and large nice choice of songs. I couldn't help but think though that the instrumental arrangements are extreme overkill. He sounds much better with just a harp or guitar or piano backing him up than a whole symphony orchestra (they really do lay it on kinda thick).
