5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Rock with a Message
Building 429 continues to impress me with their individual brand of power/alternative Christian rock. I'm a rocker from way back and not one with a Christian background, yet I am completely sold on this band, its music and its message. 1.0 out of 5 stars just terrible
Building 429 has lost it completely. Stay away from this album and check out Jake Smith, Rush of Fools, Over Ashes, 33Miles. Those are great albums. This is just a band album and they're trying to hard.

Building 429 continues to impress me with their individual brand of power/alternative Christian rock. I'm a rocker from way back and not one with a Christian background, yet I am completely sold on this band, its music and its message. To me, this band is the gold standard in the Christian Rock genre and, to be honest, they out-class most bands in any other form of contemporary rock currently on the market.

Like The Space In Between Us and Rise before it, Iris to Iris contains a blend of songs that will grab you instantly and won't let you loose until the last note fades away. I'll forego a song-by-song review of the CD, since you'd be better advised to buy the CD and make a personal assessment yourself. That is, afterall, the whole point.

Do yourself a favor, buy this CD, plug it into your CD player, MP3 player or whatever, and let fly. You'll be impressed with the sweeping variety of melodies, each with their own character and delightful hook. The signature lead vocals, backed by first class harmonies and first rate musicianship will do the rest.

There just aren't enough good things to say about this band and their musical vision. Buy it.

I was very surprised to see this rated so low. I just started listening to it yesterday and I think it's their best CD so far!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Rock Worship Album, October 20, 2008
This review is from: Iris To Iris (Audio CD)
Building 429 hit the scene big with their debut single Glory Defined and their solid debut album The Space In Between Us. Their style had a bit of grunge mixed with solid worship lyrics, fitting since the band name is based on Ephesians 4:29, which is a great life verse. After much acclaim and a Dove Award for Best New Artist 2005, Building 429 came back with a somewhat more rocking Rise, with the hit song Fearless.

Iris To Iris is the third and final Building 429 album on Word Records and is actually my favorite overall. The band certainly toned down and the grunge influence seems gone. This album is easily the most worship focused as evidenced by the stand-out songs Power Of Your Name, Majesty, You Carried Me and a great re-write of Grace That Is Greater. My favorite overall song is Singing Over Me, based on Zephaniah 3:17. This is a solid rock worship album and if you like Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns or MercyMe, you should enjoy Building 429.

I purchased this because of hearing some of the songs played on the radio!! I've wanted to get a cd of theirs for a long time because of their previous projects!!! I know they're an inspiring and committed band because their song(s) have been on WOW cd's before!!! I highly recommend this if you need a reminder of God's constant care and love!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, even for non-Christians, December 28, 2010
This review is from: Iris To Iris (Audio CD)
My first review - I listen to a *LOT* of alternative music, and I have to tell you that I am beyond impressed with the track Singing Over Me. I am not Christian and even I found this to be inspiring and frankly, one of the best alternative tracks I have heard in a while. I actually had to use SoundHound on my iPhone to figure out who sang this song - its THAT good. Don't lose out on the chance to discover a song that is truly awesome, irrespective of your faith. It's one of the best alternative songs to come along in recent memory in this world of all Nickelback-sounding alternative "disposable" rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great, September 24, 2010

This review is from: Iris To Iris (Audio CD)
This one is by far their best. The musical arrangement, the emotional depth, the masterful utilization of mature themes all work together to produce something amazing, leaving me with a sense of God's majesty each time I listen to it. This seems to be their most overlooked work, and I don't know why.

If you love contemporary Christian music, this album is for you!! Building 429 is a popular artist on the Christian airwaves today and their music is both upbeat and inspiring. If I'm ever having a rough day, I can pop this CD in on shuffle and I will start feeling better again. I bought it directly from Amazon.com and they always package everything very nicely and it gets to me quickly, in the alotted time. Very happy with this purchase.
