3.0 out of 5 stars Iris and Ruby, January 19, 2009

This review is from: Iris and Ruby (Paperback)
Having spent two months in Cairo last year studying Arabic, I would say that this book gives a very authentic picture of life in that city. However, I found the story rather weak, and I was not drawn into the book as I would have liked. I recommend it to those who will be travelling to Egypt and are looking for some contemporary cultural background.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful piece of fiction, September 10, 2011
This review is from: Iris and Ruby (Paperback)
I found this book while we were wandering in Canada. What an outstanding piece of writing. You are transported to Cairo and dance between World War II and today. This is some of the best writing I have experienced about life in Egypt. Iris and Ruby
