Editorial Reviews

Pirates, shanghaiers, slavers, and smugglers are just some of the central characters in this album of lusty, authentic maritime songs; others are ardent patriots, hard-pressed immigrants, and weathered sailors sheltering in the taverns of the seven seas. All are midway between some dicey spot in life and an uncertain future. Their compelling stories of bold adventure are excitingly re-told here by an all-star crew of Irish singers and musicians. 40 page booklet, 13 tracks, 58 Minutes. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

Thanks Dan for preserving these songs! The album is fantastic! As you are listening, you can just imagine men on a ship a "hundred years ago" working the sails and ropes...you just want to sing along with every song! I gave my first album away to someone in Salem, MA celebrating Nathaniel Bowditch's anniversary. (Nathaniel invented the sextant and was author of "The New American Practical Navigator.")Now I must buy a second!

Saw this in Smithsonian magazine-of course it was much cheaper on Amazon and if you love Irish ballad music, you'll love this CD. It is fun to hear.
