A useful introduction to the nature of Irish warfare, July 2, 2001
This review is from: Irish Battles: A Military History of Ireland (Hardcover)
G.A. Hayes-McCoy's book is a great introduction to the nature and methods of Irish warfare. He surveys some of the most influential battles of ancient Irish history, while ignoring modern aspects of the conflict there. He assumes that the reader has a working knowledge of Irish history and is familiar with the terrain and geography of the country, and as a result he is able to focus in on the meatier aspects of Irish military history. If you are not familiar with Irish history, you might want to read more about that topic first before tackling Hayes-McCoy. Still, for those hungry for information about Irish military history, it's a great book.
