Book Description

Irish Bed & Breakfast Book March 1998
The more than one hundred bed and breakfast establishments in the towns of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland provide a useful home base for the traveller seeking out castle ruins, pastoral meadows, or historic cities. In addition to listing inns and guesthouses, the authors provide useful information on booking reservations, types of housing, and how to make the most of your trip abroad. Histories of each home and travel-guide tips on sites to see in each of the locales are also furnished. Inns such as Maddybenny Farm and Dunauley will hopefully make any stay an enjoyable one.

2.0 out of 5 stars For any season this book is not very useful., February 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book: Country and Tourist Homes, Farms, Guesthouses, Inns (Paperback)
I just arrived home from Ireland and this book does not contain enough information to be very useful. The authors do not cover every county or all of the larger towns in Ireland. I was informed that B&B owners had to pay to be included in the book. The book does not give many useful tips for traveling during the different seasons. The few B&B's included in this book that were open were first rate. If you plan to travel during the winter months call ahead to be sure that the B&B mentioned is open "off season." During spring and summer don't wait; call ahead to the B&B's mentioned and book your rooms especially in Dublin.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book: Country and Tourist Homes, F, June 11, 2000

This review is from: The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book: Country and Tourist Homes, Farms, Guesthouses, Inns (Paperback)
I found the Bed & Breakfast book I received from the Irish Tourist Board to be generally more useful than this book. I referred to it for a reality check but found the AA (the Irish equivalent of the AAA) more informative overall than the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Sullivan Holiday in Ireland, February 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Irish Bed & Breakfast Book: Country and Tourist Homes, Farms, Guesthouses, Inns (Paperback)
This book is authored by a couple of ex-b&b'rs. I t reads like a journal of thier vacation in Ireland. There are only a few b&b's mentioned and it seems like only the ones they visited. Much to my dismay the Sullivan's didn't visit Knock, so apparently it does not exist and neither do the B&B's. The only redeeming thing the book has going for it is that for the B&B's mentioned, it gives first hand directions.
