Editorial Reviews

Product Description

In the style of Celtic Sunday and Celtic Harp Traditons, producer Craig Duncan delivers an authetic collection of Irish hoilday music. With Penny Whistles, uilleann pipes, bodhran and other Celtic instrumentation, these traditional carols evoke vivid images of Christmas on the Emerald Isle.

About the Artist

Craig Duncan is no stranger to the Nashville music community. His talents on violin, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, bass, and viola can be heard on numerous Nashville recordings. A graduate of Appalachian State University and Tennessee State University, Craig is a member of the North American Fiddler's Hall of Fame and Who's Who in Music and Musicians. In addition to his recording credits, Craig Duncan has written over 30 music instruction publications for Mel Bay Publications.

4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas with Celtic Flavor December 30, 2006
By LinC
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
"Irish Christmas" is a lovely instrumental CD of traditional Christmas music played on instruments like the pennywhistle, Irish bagpipes (not as loud as the Scottish version), Celtic harp and guitar. I like to have it playing while I'm decorating my Christmas tree. This also makes good background music for a party.

5.0 out of 5 stars A REAL Irish Christmas album December 6, 2007
By G. Long
Format:MP3 Music
Really quality Irish traditional music. No singing, no synthesizers. It's like sitting in a pub in Connemara at Christmas time.

5.0 out of 5 stars What I was looking for... November 28, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I've sampled other albums that claim to have Celtic Christmas music and was very disappointed by the quality. They sounded more like Perry Como than a pub session. This album has such a sound... I'm having trouble finding a description. I've never been to the places this seems to call to mind, places with cool grey stone and green hills and lapping waves. But it has the calming quality of new age and the earthy feel of folk and the airiness of traditional Irish instruments... It's what you'd expect to hear if they'd had a Christmas party in "The Secret of Roan Inish." These days when all my lovely Christmas music is beginning to feel worn out from much use and the grocery store is piping out Jingle Bells in November and I'm just beginning to wonder whether I'm really going to have any joy in this commercialized Yule, I find the kind of music that seems to strip away the layers of gift-wrap and cut through the endless covers of the same Christmas songs to play them as they should be.
