4.0 out of 5 stars Georgian houses in Ireland (UK edition)
I have a simple Georgian house in Ireland so this is the perfect book for me. Most books are about either Georgian stately homes in the UK or American Colonial houses. The Irish Georgian houses, on the whole, are smaller and more intimate and therefore whilst still of the period are not quite so fancy. This book covers different types of houses from grand through manor to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Irish Georgian Overview
I bought a Georgian Irish period farmhouse and wanted some benchmarks for Interior Design ideas. This book has a pictorial color chapter for a period Dublin Townhouse, Farmhouse, Cottage, Temple, Manor and the Guinness Family home. It was a very good overview of the period style - and also had some sources of period architectual suppliers. The only critique I would offer...

I have a simple Georgian house in Ireland so this is the perfect book for me. Most books are about either Georgian stately homes in the UK or American Colonial houses. The Irish Georgian houses, on the whole, are smaller and more intimate and therefore whilst still of the period are not quite so fancy. This book covers different types of houses from grand through manor to cottage. The pictures are wonderful, the text doesn't have to be read though it is interesting.
Well worth having if you're investigating Georgian houses in Ireland either from a research point of view or are in the process of restoration. However, it does not have great detail but does give a good flavour through the splendid photographs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Irish Georgian Overview, May 12, 2009

I bought a Georgian Irish period farmhouse and wanted some benchmarks for Interior Design ideas. This book has a pictorial color chapter for a period Dublin Townhouse, Farmhouse, Cottage, Temple, Manor and the Guinness Family home. It was a very good overview of the period style - and also had some sources of period architectual suppliers. The only critique I would offer is that it only had one house per style; I wish it would , so I could see 4-5 home examples per stlye instead of just one, particularly in the cottage and farmhouse section. But, having said that, this book was very useful, very well done, as the examples that the author chose for each style appeared to be best in class and most period correct. There is no other product that I have found that comes close.
