5.0 out of 5 stars A Rake Who is Not Really One, April 25, 2009
By
This review is from: The Irish Rake (Signet Regency Romance) (Paperback)
The hero does sleep around, so in that sense he IS a rake. But unlike most rakes I've encountered in novels, he's quite sensitive & a very honorable man.

I don't want to spoil this book for anyone who hasn't read it, so I'm limited in what I can say, which is a shame, because there are so many wonderful parts in this book that I want to talk about.

One part that really stood out in my mind is when the hero is being questioned about marriage. The person doesn't believe the hero could stay faithful to a wife, and the hero says that it's true he's been with quite a few women, but he had never made a vow to any of them. I thought that was such a sweet quote.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 4, 2001
This review is from: The Irish Rake (Signet Regency Romance) (Paperback)
I have read and re-read this Regency, something I almost never do. Emma Lange is very good at making the characters realistic and sympathetic. When Gillian falls hopelessly for a man with a bad reputation who she believes scorns her for a "green girl" you will fall right along with her. The Irish Rake is of course more honorable than he seems and his efforts to resist taking advantage of someone he could "seduce without half trying" really show Gillian what a hero he is. She doesn't realize he's fallen in love with her at first sight and neither does he until. . .well you won't be able to predict the outcome of this one. Give it a try!
