Book Description

January 6, 2012
Justine Farris would do anything for her dotty old aunt, but marrying Declan Walsh seems just plain crazy. Although the handsome handyman might be sent back to Ireland unless they pretend to tie the knot, how can Justine possibly say “I do” when they can’t agree on anything. Declan would never have proposed to an independent, unconventional woman like Justine, but this is an emergency. Then, suddenly, he begins to wish that his temporary fiancée could stay in his arms forever. And where there’s a will, there’s a way….

About the Author

Suzanne Barrett combines her love for writing with her love for creating artisan jewelry. A former facility engineer and Kensington author, Suzanne believes in sharing stories of romance and adventure spiced with a bit of mystery and intrigue. Favorite settings are England, Ireland and her own Northern California. Married, with grown children, Suzanne and her husband live in the Santa Cruz Mountains where they share their acreage with an elderly cat, several chickens and an assortment of wildlife that includes a trio of wild turkeys. Suzanne is an avid gardener with a penchant for digging in the dirt. She loves to cook and read, and she’s a certified water fitness instructor and teaches at area swimming pools and gyms. When she’s not devouring British mysteries, most evenings find Suzanne at her computer or jewelry bench, a cup of Earl Grey within easy reach, a sleeping cat at her feet, doing what she loves best—creating stories of warmth and passion and designing pendants, earrings and bracelets. Her motto is “Don't wait for something; make it happen.” Visit Suzanne at: www.suzannebarrett.com

More About the Author

I've been writing more than twenty years. In 1999 I sold my first book, followed by two more and a novella.

Since 2010 I've been with Turquoise Morning Press and have three books and two anthology stories published. In October a novella, Gift of the Heart, comes out, followed by an historical, Sierra Bride. An Irish Rogue will be a November release with four more books scheduled for 2012.

Taming Rowan, my May release is set in the north of England and involves a feisty structural engineer and the sexy Brit project officer who wants no females on site. Sparks are bound to fly when these two get together, and it's only a matter of time before readers decide who is taming who.

In Love and War came out in January and is the book of my heart. I spent part of a winter in Ireland researching this story of a wounded war correspondent and the Irish dairy farmer who captures his heart. This book was twice a RWA Golden Heart finalist.

Late Harvest, a California wine-country story and another RWA Golden Heart Finalist, came out last November. The heroine, Glenna is a winemaker with a dark secret. Returning to the winery where she grew up is the hardest thing she's had to do, and working for German vintner Kurt von Daniken may prove even more difficult, especially when she's never stopped loving him.

In addition to writing, I create designer jewelry (www.bellerustique.com). I'm also a water fitness instructor. Recreational hobbies include gardening and gourmet cookery. Additionally, I'm on Facebook and I have a blog (http://bellerustique/blogspot.com)and finally, for articles and information on Ireland, visit my travel website Ireland for Visitors. 5.0 out of 5 stars I love this Irish rogue!, February 14, 2012

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: An Irish Rogue (Paperback)
I just flipped over this novel! Ms. Barrett writes a superb story, one that really grabbed me, and here are the things I particularly relished: (1) Each scene feels like a movie, so that reading it is like watching real people "do their thing": Willow (the heroine's sister) working in her herb garden and serving weird fried parsnip suppers to the meat-loving hero; Laverne, the older aunt with her astrological pronouncements and extraordinary good looks, and her wonderfully perceptive comments about life and love; and the Irish hero's sidekick-cousin providing a good bit of humor. And the poor beleaguered English teacher-would-be-love interest... such a keen portrait of a man who isn't gonna get the girl.

(2) The heroine (Justine) is busy-busy because she's sensible and hard-working, and the writer shows her doing sensible things--tipping contents of a drawer into a carton while she's talking; working on the accounts for her bookstore; brewing tea. (3) The hero is heart-gripping! He's so wonderfully Irish, and he's more--steady, outspoken (with that Irish "lilt" to his language), and very, very male. And he's working for Justine as a carpenter but talking about Irish poets!

(3) The humor, which is subtle and fun. I had a good giggle on every page, and I don't often laugh out loud while reading a romance. (4) The backstory, which is fed into the ongoing action in such small, clever snippets it intrigues without overpowering. (5) The "snap" Ms. Barrett adds to many, many paragraphs--right at the end so the reader either laughs or clenches her fist but can't wait to read the next section.

And finally (6) the love story. Lordy, by the time hero Declan Walsh appeared in Justine's fascinating old house (needing to be remodeled) I was in love with him. I felt great empathy with Justine, trying to make a living and provide for her sister and aunt Laverne... she's my kind of woman. And she is certainly Declan's...

This wonderful love story is a real keeper.
