Great boot. I use them for primarily work. On cement floors all day. Warmth is great. I even have hiked in the winter and winter camped in these. Just hold up something great!! Im a heavy equipment mechanic. These boots have solved my knee and feet problem. Pay me now or pay me later when it comes to your feet. Sizing is a little bigger. But then again i got mine at a outdoor store where i could try on!!

I have put about 15-20 miles on the boots already, but they seemed to work well the first time out. The sole is structurally sound, and the uppers supportive. I am confident to hike over rough, rocky terrain with these boots. They looked especially good after applying Danner's Boot Dressing suitable for gortex lined boots. The uppers are a little stiff if laced tight; which is good for steep downhill to keep your toes out of the end. However, on flat ground I have installed 2 sets of shorter laces. The first set for the first five holes (like a low hiking boot), and the second lace for the upper four holes ...tied looser so I don;t spend so much energy flexing the uppers all day long.

I bought these boots in early Fall 2013 and wore them 1-2 times a week throughout the fall and winter for various things such as working outside, shoveling snow, cold weather events and small game hunting. I kept these boots cleaned and oiled and they looked great! I put the boot through the ringer and really tore up the leather-which was expected with lots of rabbit and pheasant hunting...They kept my feet warm and dry no matter the conditions and abuse...my only gripe is after about 7 months of this use, the outside soles started to separate from each other with the middle sole curling up over the sole stitching. I contacted Red Wing about this and basically said I was SOL but could send the shoes in for repair at my cost. For a $260.00 Boot, I found this to be completely unacceptable and will no longer be a Red Wing Customer. *Also these are not American Made Boots but carry an American made price tag. Fail.

I had been looking for the 1000g Elk Trackers locally so I could try them on but the Red Wing store only had the 600g available. I was very happy when I saw that Amazon carried them. I was also very pleased with the price! The black Friday week deal was pretty incredible! I measure out between 11.5D and EE but when I tried the 600g on they felt a bit loose (long and wide). I ended up ordering these in 11D and they fit like a glove. I do not wear a thick sock with these. I wear a standard crew style sock. These really are incredibly nice boots and I could not be any happier with the fit, build quality, price, etc…

The best boots. My husband works construction and can walk out a pair of boots in no time. We now buy Irish Setters and they outlast any boot he's had. He hasn't worn anything else in 9 years. Everyone needs a pair of these boots!

These boots look great, and fit perfectly upon arrival. They are a deep, dark red, and the shafts go up to a little higher than mid-shin on my legs. It is a rather snug fit, so there is little movement between the feet and legs, and the boots themselves, making the boots feel comfortable and like an extension of my own legs, rather than footwear.

The first thing I noticed when I received these boots is that they are BIG. Each boot is massive. The soles go down about another one to two inches, so when you wear it, you are an inch or two taller than you would otherwise normally be, which helps your stature, and also makes you, in a subtle way, appear bigger to others.

The second thing I noticed about these boots is that they are silent. By this I mean the boots, when walking on a solid hardwood floor, will make no sound as you tread across the surface. The soles have a unique padded design to them, and softens each step by dissipating the force of your step into the sole itself.

Of course, these are hunter's boots, so a hunter has little use for a boot that is silent on hardwood floor - it has to be silent out in the woods. Well, on my own ventures out in the woods, I notice that as long as you watch where you are treading, and that you bend your knees and move with a softer step, you can become very silent, indeed. In fact, there have been multiple times where I could walk behind someone for five or ten minutes where they would not even notice my arrival, so be prepared to properly announce your arrival before passing them on the road (out of courtesy, if not out of a sense of safety).

    Here's the good:

The design of these boots is exceptional. They are comfortable for sitting in cold areas and performed very well while hiking in wet/snowy areas. The stitching is solid, the boots proved to be waterproof, and the materials are of sufficiently high quality. The soles have great traction for snowy woods. The leather was supple out of the box; they needed no break-in period. They're sold by a national chain, so retail stores can provide free test-drives before you buy, local post-sale service or exchanges if something's not quite right when you receive them.

    Here's the not-so-good:

I'm a very average size 9. The boots that I received were normal size 9, but they fit very tight (length was fine, but width cramped my toes even with no socks). The right boot also had a bump in the leather seam on the upper tongue. This rubbed on my shin to the point that it was painful after a few minutes of walking around my living room (socks did not solve the problem).

A local Red Wing retail store had me try on another pair exactly like the ones mailed to me; they had the same fit, but did not have the annoying bump in the right boot, so this was a quality control issue (AKA "Made in China"). Size 9 wide ("EE") fit great, with plenty of room across the toes, and a comfortable, snug fit with medium-gauge wool/synthetic blend socks.

The retailer did an even exchange on the spot for my boots, with no need for a receipt. Awesome customer service!

These boots are 5-star material, especially considering I got them on an insane Black Friday deal. The poor quality was extremely disappointing, but the hassle-free exchange at a brick-and-mortar retailer made for a solid 4-star rating. Very happy with this purchase.
