True Traditions,
This review is from: Irish Traditional & Baroque (Audio CD)
Mary Bergin, perhaps the best tin whistle player and teacher from Ireland, plays with harpist Kathleen Loughnane, and fiddlers Dearbhill Standun and Johnny Doherty on this exquisite mix of Irish traditional tunes and baroque melodies. The famed Irish composer, O'Carolan, is here along with his comtemporaries, Purcell, Handel and Mozart. It is not surprising that the often anonymous traditonal tunes slip in so easily with the composed pieces. The playing is superb and joy will be found by both Irish trad and classical music fans of open minds.
