5.0 out of 5 stars Disregard the measurement given
I received this french country cookbook holder today and was very pleased with the look and ability to hold several small cookbooks. I was very concerned about the measurement given as 26" high but, as my husband kept telling me, look at the picture it appears to be as high as it is wide, well he was right (as usual) and boy am I glad it fits into the space I had set...

2.0 out of 5 stars not what I thought it was
I bought this as a gift off of my sisters wish list... I think the picture is is deceiving. It looks like it's made of durable metal but really it feels like it's made of tin. Very thin doesn't seem like it'll last long unless it doesn't get used. Just my personal opinion/observation.

It is pretty though I will give it that.

Just for the record it is 14 3/8" tall.

This is a wonderful cookbook holder. It not only looks great on your countertop, it holds even the largest cookbook open for you. It really helps you keep your place while following a recipe.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but stinky., February 16, 2008

Well, this is a very cute and moderately functional cookbook stand. The rear piece that swings out and props the stand upright was somewhat crooked on mine, but it worked fine and looked very charming on the countertop with my cookbook in it and those adorable little dangling weights holding it open to my favorite paté recipe. My only real problem--and it's a big one for me--is the smell. Yes, my charming old-fashioned "French" cookbook stand exudes a very modern stench, that eau de plastique et autres chimiques which says to me, in clear English, "You will soon be hospitalized with a severe respiratory syndrome--or at the very least you are starting down the long winding road to non-smoker's lung cancer--and maybe I'll throw a few mutagens in the general direction of your reproductive organs just for fun." (Yes, I tried airing this out in the backyard, but after 2 weeks it still stinks up the kitchen with a very un-kitcheny noxious smell). Don't buy this stand if you value your indoor air quality, unless you have a very heavy-duty counter-top HEPA filter or a gas mask, and maybe not even then. I was going to give it 2 stars instead of 1 for the functionality and appearance until I realized I wouldn't be around to enjoy it if I'm sitting at Alta Bates in an oxygen tent. Sorry guys--come up with a better finish that doesn't offgas and kill your customers slowly, and then we'll talk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Cookbook Stand, January 30, 2008

This is a very good stand. It not only works well for cookbooks, both slim and fat, but for the 8-1/2 x 11 sheets that come off of my printer, as it is tall enough to accommodate them. I bought two stands from another source for Christmas presents at $20.00 more, and I regret this, as mine is better.

I like the holder okay but it continuously falls since the back doesn't stay in place

I bought this for use at the computer (software books) as well as cook books. It is solid and holds large books very well. The weights work well to keep pages in place.

I love this stand. It fits perfectly in my kitchen and goes with the tuscan theme. It holds my large cookbook easily and the chains are great for keeping it on the right page even with a breeze. Makes it super easy to follow the recipe without having to constantly walk over to the book on the counter to try and remember ingredient amounts. Would definitely recommend to friends.

This product looked fine...I sent it right along as a gift so I did not use it but it looked substantial enough for a moderately large cookbook.
