3.0 out of 5 stars Missing a Few...
I did like this album, but also wish it was made more complete. Along with the other two songs mentioned in previous reviews I would like "We're not Gonna Take it" by Twisted Sister (the moment he decides to take action) to be added. It's the whole feeling of a soundtrack that makes it good, and this soundtrack is incomplete without those three songs.

I have owned this soundtrack several times once on tape and twice on cd (well now 3 times). This is a great soundtrack that features 10 songs but when I saw the credits at the end of the film there were 17 songs so there are 7 songs missing from this soundtrack lets take a look shall we

1.Eyes of the World Eric Martin playing when Doug and Chappy take the plane for some shooting exercises

2.Old enough to rock n roll Rainey Haynes played during the race between Doug and Notcher I think its a woman singing this song and not a man one of the best songs in the movie and it isn't on the soundtrack dam

3.Reggie's Theme not such who performed this I think it was used in the movie at the dance when Reggie and his date were doing those funky moves :)

4.There was a time James Brown played during the scene Chappy hits the jukebox (the way the Fonz does in Happy Days) and starts planning the rescue with Doug

5.Gimmie some Lovin Spencer Davis group played after Chappy goes down and Doug declares "This one's for you Chappy"

6.We're not gonna take it Twisted Sister played during the scene(s) were the kids gather all the info Doug needs for his "mission"

7.Proud Mary Ike and Tina Turner played when all the kids are at Chappy's thats all I remember about that song.

Another thing Where the hell is Basil Poledouris fantastic score I have heard it was released on a crappy bootleg boo!

Here is what the record company should/NEEDS to do since its just about the 20th anniversary of the film I would like to see a remastered fully restored soundtrack with ALL 17 songs amd that great score from Basil Pooledouris This could be a 2 or 3 cd set.

My guess as to why the missing songs were not included maybe because the company couldn't get the rights for the songs or perhaps couldn't settle on agreements for royalties to be paid to each performer/songwriter(s). I hope that they do re-release this complete and with score soon. **UPDATE 2/3/06 I just received my copy of Rainey's song Old enough to rock and roll and it rocks (runs nearly 6 full minutes 5:53) [...]**

UPDATE 10/8/09 My quest for the score has ended I finally purchased it through "V.S." (there is a listing on amazon for the score) I am most impressed with the release and the notes are quite extensive. I am currently up to track 8 and can't believe how good it is. now all I want is a dvd in widescreen and a expanded edition of the soundtrack with all the music used in the film. I didn't realize Basil Poledouris passed in 2006 well Basil this one's for you finally after 20+ yrs the score is finally here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but lacking two of the best songs on the movie., September 24, 1999
This review is from: Iron Eagle (Audio CD)
This movie has to be one of the all time great guy movies. The soundtrack is just fine for 80's fans like myself. I was dissapointed however that the two best songs in the movie, in my opinion, weren't on here though. The song "Old enough to rock and roll" by Rainey Haynes at the beginning when Doug was racing that guy on the motorcycle and "Eyes of the World" when Doug and Chappy were in the F-16 trainer were the ultimate "race hype" songs. It took awhile to find "Eyes of the World", now if only i could find "Old enough to rock and roll" i could complete the Iron Eagle soundtrack. Iron Eagle fans, email me if you have this song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack - Too Bad Basil Poledouris is MIA on it., March 14, 2000

When it comes to great rock and roll albums this one is awfully hard to beat. If truth be told, the "Iron Eagle" soundtrack probably jams harder than the one used in "Top Gun," another jet jock movie from the 80s that is universally renowned for its testosterone pumping music. Sadly, this soundtrack, though very good, is not complete.

"One Vision" and "Road of the Gypsy" are definite favorites, but a handful of songs are notably missing. Particularly disappointing is the absence of "Eyes of the World," "Old Enough to Rock and Roll," and a score of original compositions by Basil Poledouris ("The Hunt for Red October"). How I have yearned for the opening theme from "Iron Eagle" to be released on a Special Edition CD. This was a glaring omission. Perhaps for "Iron Eagle's" 25th Anniversary we'll see it make an appearance somewhere. One can hope, can't he?

Despite these oversights, this is a great album. A virtual time-capsule of the 1980s. Is it any wonder it continues to sell well nearly fifteen years after its release? Definitely a keeper.

For those of you like me, who have been searching for this song since it came out, and now I have found it. The artist, Rainey Hanes, has a website where she has released the song "Old Enough to Rock & Roll". The story behind why the song has not been released earlier is interesting. Go to RaineyOnline.com and you can get your copy. I just ordered mine. Hope this was helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Say Die!, July 30, 2007

This may just be the king of the 80's rock soundtracks. As good as the soundtracks for Over the Top, Navy Seals, and the Transformers were, none of them had quite as impressive a collection of tracks as Iron Eagle.

If the fact that it features an exclusive Dio song (Hide in the Rainbow) isn't enough for you, you also get songs by Queen, King Kobra, Helix, a pre-Mr. Big Eric Martin, and the Jon Butcher Axis. Even lesser known acts like Adrenalin and Urgent turn in quality material. The Katrina & the Waves and George Clinton offerings don't add much (from a rock perspective), but even they aren't too bad. It doesn't have all of the music featured in the movie, but what it does offer is pretty impressive (and besides, you can hear that Twisted Sister track on about a billion other albums).

If you make any claim at all to being a serious 80's rock fan, you must own this soundtrack. You don't even need to like the movie to enjoy this killer selection of melodic rock and metal from a decade when this kind of music ruled the radio.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Missing Songs, March 9, 2000

Bart Bookelmann (Culemborg, Holland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Iron Eagle (Audio CD)
This is a soundtrack with some good music from a good movie. But it lacks 3 songs. These are: We're not gonna take it - Twisted Sister, Eyes of the World - Eric Martin & Old Enough to Rock & Roll - Rainey Haynes. The first 2 are available on CD. But Mister Haynes is a bit of a problem. I've been looking for him everywhere but there is nothing I can find. I understand I'm not the only one looking for this missing song. So, if somebody can help me please mail me (BOOKELMANN1@ZONNET.NL)!

Greetings from Bart (HOLLAND)
