Suit up and take to the skies again. This brand-new story thrusts you deep into the Iron Man comic world adding to the excitement of the Iron Man 2 feature film. Battle epic enemies, like the classic Iron Man villain Crimson Dynamo, only featured in the game. In this original story penned exclusively for the game by renowned Iron Man comic writer Matt Fraction, billionaire playboy and tech genius Tony Stark gifts the world with new technology in order to make it a better place. In the end, the fate of the world will be left in Iron Man’s powerful hands and he must battle to save the world from destruction.

Gameplay
Iron Man 2, like the first video game in the series developed to coincide with the Marvel Comics movie releases, is a single player action game featuring combat and other action both on the ground and in the air. The game follows a timeline that is separate from that found in the the movies, allowing for both comic book and movie elements to coexist. Gameplay is mission-based with players collecting "field data" for success in battle, which in turn allows for the upgrading of battle suits. Improvements over the earlier game include greater variety of play, including indoor and outdoor combat and stealth, a control scheme that remains consistent regardless of whether you are on the ground or in the air and an optional lock-on system which pulls Iron Man towards enemies when he is in the air facilitating spectacular attacks. Finally, and probably most important, players in Iron Man 2 have the ability to play both as Iron Man as well as Tony Stark's friend and ally, War Machine.

Key Game Features

  • Be Iron Man. Be War Machine - Suit up as Iron Man or War Machine from the get-go. Iron Man gives the player unrivaled speed and agility, War Machine brings the heavy artillery, delivering a different gameplay experience. The player must decide which hero best suits the task ahead and prepare.
  • Research, Develop, Refine - From Tony Stark’s base of operations, direct R&D efforts and prepare for your selected mission by building and customizing your suit and weaponry.
  • Epic Foes and Cinematic Action - Accomplish super heroic deeds and battle villains as tall as skyscrapers while in the maelstrom of a global crisis.
  • Unrivaled Fire Power - Feel the impact of Iron Man and War Machine’s weaponry. Blow holes through walls and bring down huge enemy structures and vehicles. Use a variety of devastating new melee combat moves to take out enemies at close range- in the air or on the ground.
  • Go Beyond The Movie - Story consultant, Invincible Iron Man comic writer Matt Fraction brings you a unique story which takes you into Tony Stark’s movie-world with new locations, scenarios and villains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Movie & the first game! January 4, 2011
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm not a big fan of Iron Man, but I do like technologically advanced games, puzzles, and fighting. This game has them all. After playing the whole thing, I think it is better than the Movie! It starts off a bit slow, but gets better and better the farther in the game one gets! If you like superheroes at all, you should try this game!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Iron Man Game May 27, 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Iron Man 2 is a step above its predecessor in almost every way. The flight controls are so much easier to use in Iron Man 2 which makes for a better experience controlling the main character. I enjoyed this game for the most part, I know it isn't the greatest game of all time and yes it was short, but I found it to serve its purpose. The ability to play as both Iron Man and War Machine was a nice added bonus as well which added a little replay to the game. Overall, I can't recommend this game because of it's short length and asking for a full price of $59.99 is a bit too much. $29.99 is a fair price for this game and if and when it drops to that price, maybe it is worth checking out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Movie Series Deserves Better Than This June 22, 2010
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
The original Iron Man was probably the worst Marvel comics related game of the last ten or so years, barely edging out Daredevil largely because Daredevil didn't actually come out for home consoles. So, it's been 2 years and Sega has learned their lesson, right?

Well, to be gentle, no. I hate using the term "crap" as an adjective, but it is the cleanest and least offensive phrase I can use to describe the quality of this terrible movie tie-in. Now, it's not the like usual movie tie-in where they were handicapped by the storyline of the movie. The game doesn't really have much to do with the movie, outside of the fact that Iron Man and War Machine exist. It's an original story of Stark Industries-related hijinks and shenanigans.

It's also really, really bad. I think this game actually looks WORSE than Iron Man 1, which did not set any new standards in the world of attractive-looking visuals in a game. Iron Man and War Machine look decent enough, but everything else looks like it was done on a PS2. and I loathe to use that term out of concern of insulting the venerable PS2.

I can handle poor visuals (I didn't utterly loathe Two Worlds, which looked like a microwaved turd), but when you add in the joys of a really bad camera, you hit a new apex of terrible. While, logically, not being able to see all of an ugly world SEEMS like a God send, it is very much not one. You are asked to attack targets on enemies, and the hardest part is not targeting the things (that is actually fairly easy), but actually FINDING the stupid things is a headache. You have to find small targets on a massive enemy and you get blasted to next week while trying to figure out if the target is on top, beneath, or somewhere in the middle.

3.0 out of 5 stars For $20, it's not a bad way to spend an afternoon January 2, 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Gameplay is a step up from the first Iron Man game, although camera control and weapon targeting are still not great. Targeting a multiple-target weapon never works quite break, target lock breaks on a whim, and it is difficult to get a sense of the battlefield - the viewing angle should really have been as an FPS, not over the shoulder game, or at the very least had that as an option.

The objectives can be difficult to meet, especially when progress isn't clear, and there is no reliable way to know just where you're in danger (the object you're protecting it getting hit? By what? Is it above or below you? And how far away is it?). The minimap is little of little to no use in an all out firefight.

The art direction is a bit off - the actors have clearly not given permission for their actual images to be used in the game, so they're all lightly distorted in an off-putting manner. If you're expecting the in-game characters to look exactly like their movie counterparts, you'll be quite disappointed.

All that said, for $20 or less, how much are you expecting? If you're a fan of Iron Man or trying to pick up quick achievements, this game isn't a bad way to meet either want. You can play as Iron Man from any number of suit eras, upgrade weaponry and skills to empower yourself, and play as a comic book superhero in one of the better comic book super hero video games out now for around as much as you paid to see the original movie in the theater.

This game is better than the first one. You can now pass all of the levels. It was not a game for the serious player but it was alright. You can buy this one.
