I was a big fan of the score for the original Iron Man (composed by Ramin Djawadi). I was then slightly disappointed by the score for Iron Man 2 (composed by John Debney), although it certainly had its great musical moments.

The original score for Iron Man 3 is somewhere in between. I'm not quite sure it lives up to the music from the first film, but I do think it is an improvement over the second film's score. The composer is Brian Tyler, who has worked on many action movies in the past, and certainly knows how to convey action and tension through music.

The first track of the album is the most memorable; it features the heroic main theme from Iron Man 3. This theme is heard throughout the film and indeed can be heard multiple times on the soundtrack (it's a delight each and every time it pops up).

One small note: Since each of the Marvel films build off of what has come before, I like when the music does the same thing. But I can't really find a trace of the previous Iron Man scores in this one, and that's a shame. This is something that Hans Zimmer did very well with Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, adding new themes to each film but always working in previous themes as well. However, all three scores in the Iron Man trilogy have gone in different directions (this is likely a result of having three different composers).

Overall, Iron Man 3 is a solid score from a great composer. I have a few minor issues and wish the album was a bit more diverse, but the main theme is very strong and the music adequately captures the fun and excitement of the film.

FAVORITE TRACKS
[1] Iron Man 3
[6] New Beginnings
[11] Heat and Iron
[20] Can You Dig It (Iron Man 3 Main Titles)

In addition to this wonderful score, there is another Iron Man 3 album being released (which includes songs inspired by the movie): Iron Man 3: Heroes Fall

And if you don't yet own them, I'd recommend the previous scores:
Iron Man
Iron Man 2: Original Motion Picture Score

I never really watched the other 2 Iron Man till a few weeks ago. Never the less I must say it was quite a shock to me that I found myself liking Tony Stark. I love them now actually. Full of action. The goosebumps you get as his suit assembles on his body really get you pumped for a beat down. But you also get the Tony that now fears for the first time he actually seems to show how he is scared for the ones he love, cares about, you see a stronger more vulnerable version of the former self it's really refreshing to see him conquer that on screen with Downey's pleasantly smug sense of humor.

The music alone in this movie seemed to me to be old school sounding hero music. Fast cords sweeping into a full orchestra barrage of favorable sounds fill your ears, making each scene in the movie just come alive.

I have listened to the other 2 scores, this one by FAR has to be the most heart felt deep rooted music that Brian Tyler has created next to Battle: Los Angeles another very noted heroic sounding score.
This score has a more smashing hero type sound. With some very cool sway parts of music that don't let you forget it's a serious heartfelt moment, you feel it.

My favorite tracks are

Battle Finale (awesome awesome awesome sound)
Hot Pepper (talk about battle ready!)
Iron Man 3 (thundering courage all the way)
New Beginnings (finale ending makes you feel like you accomplished)

As a nerd-girl and listener to millions of scores, this is buy worthy and what a wonderful score to such a clearly future hit of a movie. Buy it!

In my book Brian Tyler has delivered the best score so far of the recent Marvel movies. Bombastic and driving when it needs to be. Pensive and feeling for other parts. And add a hummable theme to boot! I look forward to future Tyler / Marvel partnerships.

I love soundtracks. With a passion. I can replay the movie in my head, listen while mowing the yard, or write. Love. Them.

But I was sorely disappointed in Iron Man 3 soundtrack. Love the movie and can't wait for it to come out on DVD so that isn't the problem.

The theme music starts out well and I though, heck yeah. But then it, the same theme song, is everywhere, without let up. I wanted variety like the Halo soundtrack. Or Inception, the Pirates's Dead Man's Chest. Even Meet Joe Black is better.

I'll go back to Assassin Creed for inspiration. *sigh* so disappointed. And I have NeVer been fried by a soundtrack before.

I really like the main theme.... but it seems being repeated for too many times.....

I am a Hans Zimmer fan.... though recently I cannot find really great theme from ZImmer that I am still stuck in King Arthur...
the most recent one I own from Zimmer is Man of Steel (I brought MOS and this Ironman 3 at the same tome)... I won't say MOS's theme is very good (i.e. beautiful theme music like King Arthur) but during listening to MOS I still have the mood to go on listening to the track's end...

Back to IM3, I like the main theme so much that I use it as my recent ringing tone... but that's all... when I listen to each track of the score, othan than the main theme rest of it is just noisy drums without order.... I cannot remember the scenes from the music....

so... this score cd is like another which I put in my collection without putting it out again... listen to the main theme for several times will suffice.

When I purchased this soundtrack I had a lot of expectations because thinking I was going to hear something great, but boy I was wrong! Bryan Tyler has made a soundtrack that seems made for a TV show instead for a movie like Iron Man, you don't feel the thrill like it happened with the other soundtracks of this character, the only good track is the first one. I'm very disappointed. Don't get it.

Brian Tyler is not only making a name for himself, he has become a member of the young crop of elite Movie Score Composers. He joins Michael Giacchino, Alexander Desplat, and of course a list of many others in completing a movie with his own style of composition, Conducting and action packed music. I would recommend this score to anyone who love musics, not simply tired implanted music from the 70's that is about as original now as water....

This soundtrack is one of the better Marvel movie soundtracks. The "Iron Man 3" theme appears throughout the album, but it is never heard the exact same way twice because Brian Tyler explores several variations each time the theme is heard. The music here is generally upbeat, and even inspirational. It is impossible for me to listen to "New Beginnings" without felling like I can rise up from my mundane, flawed existence and take on the world. And the final track, "Can You Dig It" is pure Marvel fun.

It makes me want to watch the movie again and again to hear the music in the soundtrack! Or, just by itself. I've played it so many times already!
