4.0 out of 5 stars Audio Story Arc April 30, 2013
Format:MP3 Music
Like any decent movie soundtrack or 'Music From and Inspired By...' as they're called nowadays, the songs included reflect what appears to be the movie's themes either in lyrical content, title or both. And since it's pretty much a vehicle for lesser known bands there's lots of California sound here, which is a good way to get introduced to them. Makes for some uneven listening, but it's still pretty interesting.

ETA: after having seen the movie, the songs are somewhat misleading as the movie's plot isn't as quite as dark as it's made out to be. It's actually pretty light, considering.

Highlights include:
Ready, Aim, Fire by Imagine Dragons: an evocative, gut-punch anthem for the movie's story arc and the strongest track.

Some Kind of Joke by AWOLNATION: Another song with lyrics apropos of the movie, set to a throwback 80s style of synth-overlaid vocals and power riffs. It's the only song that appears in the film.

Some Kind of Monster by Neon Trees: a lot like a Killers or Kings of Leon B-side.

Let's Go All The Way by that infamous sidegroup, The Wondergirls (Featuring Ashlee Hamilton and Robbie Williams): Harder, stronger remake of the 80's classic by Sly Fox. Came off pretty good.

Unlike the Avengers music which was disappointing, this one gets you excited to see the movie... and right now it's only $5!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not very Iron Man-y. May 2, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I was reminded more of the Twilight movies as I listened to this album, but that's not an insult. I like those soundtracks. However, I didn't associate the music on this soundtrack with Iron Man at all. I guess I can blame the other movies shoving AC/DC in my face. This is a fun summer soundtrack that puts me in the mood for the upcoming season, though, and I recommend it. Just not for fans of Iron Man.

Highlights are "Some Kind of Joke," "No Time" and "Back to the Start."

Like many of you I wanted Imagine Dragon's "Ready, Aim, Fire" bad enough to purchase the entire soundtrack. I'm happy to say I was not disappointed with the other offerings on this CD. There's only one real throw away single, American Blood - I've already deleted it because it isn't worth the time it takes to listen to it. Very pleased with "Back to the Start", "Big Bad Wolf", and especially "Bad Guy."

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Album With Good Band Compilation September 23, 2013
By Burbaby
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I bought this album for the Imagine Dragons song and that song alone is worth the album price. BAD GUY by 3OH!3 is also a great song and there are several other good songs by good bands on this album.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting August 17, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
It has a couple good songs but it was not what I was expecting. The soundtrack in the movie was such a good mix of variety but this was pretty uninspiring to listen to.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointing February 10, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
None of the music was from the movie. No ac/dc and the songs are terrible. If you want a sample of the quality search ready aim fire by imagine dragons. Great band worst song

2.0 out of 5 stars A lot of variety, but second-string songs January 17, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A lot of variety on this CD, but the songs seem like second string songs by the artists. That is, they seem like tunes that didn't make the cut to play on the radio so ended up on this CD. People buy the CD because they like a song or two in the CD, or know the artists, but then realize it's really not that great. Listen to the samples before purchasing to get a good feel for the music on the CD.
