5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly character centric!, May 11, 2010
This review is from: Iron Man: Deadly Solutions (Marvel Premiere Classic) (Hardcover)
I kinda blindly ordered this knowing that I'd be in an Iron Man "mood" following the release of IM2 (as many of you are) and I began reading it and was very pleasantly surprised at how character centric all of these issues are. With 90's comics, you never know what you're gonna get but this should satiate everyone's appetite for good, clean Iron Man action after catching the sequel in theaters. You get the feeling that Kurt Busiek really has a firm grip on the character and knows where he wants to take him and what kind of stories he wants to tell. There's some really great supporting character moments involving Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan. The writing is top notch and the artwork (while not mindblowing by today's standards) still manages to suit the story very well. Tony is constantly questioning himself and getting to read what goes on in his head in a way no other writer has been able to do quite as well is a pleasure to read. They're action packed yet still "meaty" reads. It's the kind of Iron Man book I would have loved reading month to month back in 1998 so do yourself a favor and check this damn book out!
