About the Author

June Gadsby was born in Felling, Tyne & Wear, into a mining family. Her first love has always been writing, though she is also an accomplished artist, loves to cook, read, listen to music. Shemakes her own herbal remedies from the plants she grows in her half-acre garden. She now lives in Gascony, south-west France with her photographer husband, Brian, and her miniature Yorkshire terrier, Candy.

Of course I have nostalgia for The Iron Master. I am actually the author and it was my first full-length novel to be published. It was also the book that taught me how important good research is - and from then on I began to enjoy the research side of writing. There's a bit of everything in this story spanning the early years of the twentieth century. If you like your love stories spiced with suspense, intrigue and a good dollop of wartime drama laced with humour, this story should do it for you. If not, take a look at my other novels - they're all different - including the short pocket novels. And I've just had my seventh full-length novel accepted by Hale - "The Raging Spirit" set in the wild archipelagos of St. Kilda in 1900, so watch this space.
