Iron Man Book,
This review is from: The Iron Men of Metz (Paperback)
I thought the Iron Men of Metz was great! I knew nothing about World War II and normally don't read books from this genre, but this book was very interesting. I enjoyed the introduction to the stories. By the time I made it to the first story I understood what had happened around the world after World War I and how the 95th Division prepared for war. The majority of the stories were wonderful and you really get to know each of the guys. I liked how the book was divided in to sections with an overview of what was going on elsewhere and what the units were scheduled to do. That really helped me understand what was going on since most of the stories were different. The pictures helped me visualize the period and see who I was reading about. In all, I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more like it.

The Iron Men of Metz,
This review is from: The Iron Men of Metz (Paperback)
The Iron Men of Metz is a colorful collection of oral histories offered in their entirety. The book begins with the circumstances leading up to World War II and an overview of the African, European and Pacific Theaters of Operation. An outline of the division's actions carries the reader along the blazing trail of the 95th Infantry Division and facilitates a better understanding of the exciting stories as they unfold en route to Victory-Europe and Victory-Japan Days. Come join the actual Iron Men as they share their tales of sacrifice, valor and victory in the Second World War.

The Iron Men of Metz,
By
This review is from: The Iron Men of Metz (Paperback)
A gripping account of the lives of 22 members of the 95th Infantry Division from induction into the armed forces through their discharge, including an epilogue for each, bringing the reader up to date on their present lives. Descriptions of basic training and combat are accurate and exciting eye-witness accounts of the trials and tribulations of members of the "greatest generation". A well written book that is very hard to put down. Accounts are divided into the sequences in which they occurred. Historical perspectives inserted in appropriate places help the reader to understand the progress of World War II and its relationship to previous conflicts. Highly recommended to any student of military history and even to those who heretofore have had little interest in war stories.

My dad was an "Iron Man of Metz",

This review is from: The Iron Men of Metz (Paperback)
After having listened to my fathers many retellings of the war, I stumbled upon this book. I never expected the book to sound exactly like my dad's version of what he had done and seen, but it was. It was as though my father's retelling was told in this book. Thank you, Tobias, for putting my fathers and his fellow soldiers' story down in print. I will be attending the 95th Division Army Reunion with my dad this coming August in Chicago. It will be my first reunion and am looking forward to meeting those other brave men who truly were THE IRON MEN OF METZ.

Enjoyed hearing from men who knew what dad went through during the war. Helped me understand why he never talked about the war.
