4.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth Reading, October 9, 2000

This review is from: Iron Oasis (Deadlands; PEG6013) (Deadlands: Hell on Earth) (Paperback)
Iron Oasis describes Junkyard, the last surviving city in North America in the Deadlands: Hell on Earth roleplaying game. Junkyard is an interesting place, and it's very likely to play an increasingly important role in the official Hell on Earth story line, so most players will eventually want to visit Junkyard and learn the secrets contained within this book. Junkyard was founded near Salt Lake City by the notorious Dr. Darius Hellstromme. Even though Hellstromme has temporarily disappeared, his influence is still felt in Junkyard. Junkyard is important in the Deadlands world for several reasons. It is a major center of Junker magic, produces most of the Wasted West's Spook Juice, and is a founding member of the Iron Alliance. It is one of the few powers left which may be able to resist the growth of the Combine. In addition to information on Junkyard, this book also contains new rules for using all types of aircraft, as well as rules on the creation and use of bionic implants. If a character has lost a limb in a fight, or just wishes to become Better, Stronger, Faster, these rules are very helpful. This book raises more questions than it answers about Junkyard. For instance, it would have been better if it had contained just a little more information about the Guardians of the New Science, which is a cult which worships Dr. Hellstromme. But despite that, I recommend this book to any Marshal or posse member who wants to understand what's happening in the Wasted West. Welcome to Junkyard. You won't be sorry you came.
