5.0 out of 5 stars The secret to all success
I read a lot of business-marketing books. It's hard to believe that this book was written in 1901. The examples are motivating, although dated. A fast read at 49 pages. It reads like a slightly older version of ThHINK AND GROW RICH. I'm assuming that AN IRON WILL inspired and provided the framework for the Napoleon Hill book. Solid examples. For those who are looking for a higher power to guide their lives this book may be of help. It stresses the importance of the human will in all endeavors. Reading this book once will inspire you breifly, but if you can summon the will power to sacrifice an hour each day to devote to reading this book, you will begin to inspire others and amaze yourself at the strength you can summon in your hour of need. You will accomplish things of which you only dreamed. Your efforts will become heroic.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Will Finds A Way!", October 24, 2005
This review is from: An Iron Will (Paperback)
As quoted by Marden from this book. This book is all about harnessing the power of your self will to work for you instead of against you. Having a strong sense of will is meaningless if it is misdirected. This work delineates the steps one needs to take to create discipline and willpower to achieve one's goals. It is an absolute must read for anyone who wants to achieve the pinnacle of success in their personal and professional lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, September 24, 2010

Blown away, is how I would describe this book written in 1901. It has that turn of the century "pull yourself up by the boot straps" mentality. Be a man stand up and take what's yours kind of thing. Great stuff!

"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education," it was said by Professor Huxley, "is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson which ought to be learned, and, however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson which he learns thoroughly."

"I don't do more, but less, than other people. They do all their work three times over: once in anticipation, once in actuality, once in rumination. I do mine in actuality alone, doing it once instead of three times."

Another very sun Tzu type quote;

As one has well said: "He who is silent is forgotten; he who does not advance falls back; he who stops is overwhelmed, distanced, crushed; he who ceases to become greater, becomes smaller; he who leaves off gives up; the stationary is the beginning of the end--it precedes death; to live is to achieve, to will without ceasing."

I like these older books as opposed to the newer "the secret" style books, it strips out the easy money, metrosexual 2000's feel good do no work wish thinking and really captures the nitty grittiness of the nineteen hundreds willpower that made America a real superpower. More people should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a life changing book!, May 7, 2008
This review is from: An Iron Will (Paperback)
This is a book which is simplistic yet at the same time deep and inspiring. It simply leaves you with no excuses. It's length means it is a book you can truly read every day, yet will make you think and inspire you long after you've read it for the day.

Get the book.

What a book, this is suck a great little book well worth the money because it can be read and reread in short order to get you back on track. It is about your WILL, your ideas and the determination and steadfastness to see it all through to the end and you can really never fail. Yes of course setbacks, obstacles, dead ends only test to see how bad you really want it and what are you will to do to get it. Anything Orison Swett Marden is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, but this e-copy doesn't work, March 10, 2010

This review is from: An Iron Will (Kindle Edition)
This book is an excellent treatise on the power of will and its influence in your life and in the lives of the people in your sphere.

A few of the anecdotal statements I find myself repeating over and over again.

That said, I paid for this copy. It only has the Cover/title page. No other pages come through. I have redownloaded this several times. <<<<Do NOT PAY FOR THIS COPY>>> I found a FREE public-domain copy that has the entire text, and that was perfect.
