Looking for this for years. Automatically logs you in to every site that you need a password for. Saves tons of time. I used to keep a large vulnerable text file of passwords. Ironkey is fast secure and easy to use. I keep one plugged in to my pc at work and at home. They can be synchronized. Security matched with portability is a rare beast. They are waterproof and uncrackable. Easily switched on and off. Secure encrypted backup. 8GB may be overkill but nice to have the capacity just in case I want it. My 2Gb isn't even 10% full as I use them mainly for password management.

Standard issue for key personnel at my company now,

I purchased my first Iron Key, the 2MB model, on a lark. It seemed 'way cool' - military grade encryption in a brushed metal finish... I was like a kid on December 23rd while I was waiting for it to arrive. It did not disappoint.
The key features: 1 - Uncrackable, even with an electron microscope. Your files will be secure on this device, period. Rather than keep any personal files on my work computer, I leave them on the Iron Key and access them from there. 2 - Centralized password management. If you're like me, you have online accounts at dozens of places - banks, credit card companies, retailers, social networking, etc. It's insane to use the same username/password combination at all these sites, because if one site has a security flaw, hackers can get your username and password and then use that to go after your accounts on the other sites. Unfortunately, I can only remember so many passwords, and I don't like to keep a written list. The Iron Key solves that problem by giving you a centralized password management system. All you need to remember is the password for the Iron Key. 3 - If you lose it, you can still recover your data IF you were smart enough to back it up. I have recovered data from 3 lost Iron Keys (just once with my own key). All you do is insert the new drive, point it to your backup file, enter the password used to encrypt the backup, and press enter. In a few minutes, your bookmarks, passwords and files are all recovered. The only problem I have with the backup is that it shows the individual files in the backup, so if you have a file named 'Current Resume', it's available for anyone with access to the backup to see - though the contents of the file are completely inaccessable. We have upgraded people from the 2GB to the 4GB to the 8GB as needed. All of these devices are worth the investment if you take security and privacy at all seriously.

Peace of Mind,

Peace of mind, that what I purchased when I bought my Ironkey Personel memory stick. I travel for a living - a lot. I always have my laptop when I travel along with various files that simply cannot wind up in the wrong hands. I'm not talking about pictures of the house and family, I mean access codes to bank accounts and my brokerage account that could be used to really ruin my life as well as personal and proprietary information that friends, family, co-workers and my company expect me to protect. This is the kind of information that I store exclusively on my Ironkey Personal memory stick. If someone steals my laptop or even my bag with the memory media in it, I can replace it but I will not have to worry about someone cleaning out a good portion of my life savings. The Ironkey comes with a password storage program but I transferred my E-Wallet password program from Ilium Software I purchased a few years ago onto the Ironkey. E-Wallet also encrypts my data and I was worried it might not run on encrypted media but it works great. My most sensitive information is now protected by encryption behind encryption; I sleep well at night. I purchased the 8GB version because I knew I would probably never need it's full capacity and I didn't want to have to purchase and carry another one.

IroKey is Great,

I have had two 8Gb Iron Keys. They are great for securing data, surfing anonymously, and are essentially indestructible... unless you forget the password.
Speaking from experience do back up your password on-line when the device software asks you to. It will (has) self destructed if you enter the password wrong 10 times. I have had a few glitches with the Iron Key. Most of these have been self induced. I have had to use Iron Keys technical support on three separate occasions. They are the best I have encountered. A human being responds to your request within 24 hours. The support tech that initially answers your request is dedicated to your request until it is resolved to your satisfaction. Their support staff more than justifies the higher cost of the Iron Key. I will buy another when the need arises.

Received my Ironkey and had a small problem getting set up, turns out it was my computer but was very pleased with the product and the most amazing one on one service I received when I filed a trouble ticket.
If you need this kind of security their is no better..

Sounds good, but not worth the money,
This review is from: IronKey Personal 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive (Personal Computers)
I am writing this review after using the IronKey for several months.
1) It is SLOW. Very slow. Especially if you plan on using the onboard Firefox. Even more when you want to use it on some public computer, or a friend's old pc. 2) The password manager only works 50% of the time. It also deletes some password, mixes them up ... 3) It's EXPENSIVE!!!! I found out that you can do most of the things with a cheap flash drive and some free softwares online. 4) Only the basic drive feature works on Macs. 5) Almost no Linux support. But, it looks cool when you show it to friends. |
