5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Simple
Can't really go wrong here. A metal post, some rubber grips, and a couple of wheels. It works great, and was the cheapest I found.

Just a tip, if you've never used it before, don't try to be a tough guy and do a rep from your feet. You may be tough, but you might also hurt your back. Start on your knees until you know for sure you're a tough guy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great device, but let's be realistic, March 20, 2007

I love this Ab Wheel, but some of the reviews here are ridiculous, like when a woman claims it burned off 20 pounds in a month. That's 72,000 calories, or 2400 calories a day. To put that in perspective, you'd have to run 24 miles a day, every day, to take off 20 pounds in a month just through exercise.

Let's say you can use this devise for 3 minutes before you tire out. Heck, give it the benefit of the doubt say 5 minutes. That means it might burn off 50 calories a day. If you did that every day (unlikely, because your abs would want some rest), you could burn off just under half a pound in a month. And that's based on some pretty optimistic assumptions.

So it's not a weight loss device. But it IS a great ab strengthener, better than anything else I've use. It'll tighten up your stomach like crazy, and as long as you do some cardio to burn and keep the fat off, you'll end up with a great, flat, ripped up stomach.

Sturdy, works well, easy to disassemble and toss in a suitcase. The exercise is surprisingly hard, you must have strong abs to begin with, combine this exercise with sit-ups. Must be used on carpet or a towel or something under the knees.

5.0 out of 5 stars How much more do you have to read? This product works!!!, May 11, 2007

I was in the market for something to get my stomach the way it used to be when i was younger. honestly i was looking for the easy way out. i read reviews on the sauna belt and the slendertone, and thank god those people talked me out of buying it. ive tried the ab ball which works but nothing gave me the results like this product did. the minute i got it i used it and i was hooked. im about average weight with pudge around the belly but after using this product for about 3 weeks if i suck in my stomach a i can definately see muscle forming. Nothing on here beats the price and the results you get. i have a history of a bad back but this product doesn't aggrivate it at all. it's no miracle machine and gets you rock hard abs over night, but it works!!! i'll definitly vouch for this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Killer, March 20, 2007
This review is from: Ironman Double Ab Wheel (Sports)
This equipment is no joke and it deals out quite a lot of pain for 6 bucks. I decided that it wasn't that hard on the first day and did a couple more reps than a should have. Needless to say, I didn't work my abs for the next 3 days because I was too sore to move them around. Get this and let your friends try it. You'll love the great looks on their faces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its the cheapest out there., March 19, 2007
This review is from: Ironman Double Ab Wheel (Sports)
I can't believe some companies will charge $86 for the same concept. This one cost $6! Possibly the cheapest in the US market.
Performing this excercise is extremely hard. I first saw this done standing by jackie chan in the movie "gorgeous". You need strong abs and chest to start with, plus good arms to keep balance, if you want to perform at this level.

when you start out on your knees. Be sure to wear gloves, the handles are stiff plastic. Then TRY JUST ONE complete rep and celebrate. If returning to the original position (pinching your abs together) is hard, then try resetting yourself and just concentrate on going down (stretching your back and abs out). Then the next day try 2 reps. Then take a day off. Overdoing will be painful the next morning.

I really recommend doing this excercise as your FIRST workout before working other parts of your body. It would be tough to even hold the thing together after pumping your tri/bicepts or shoulders.

TIP leave an inch gap between the wheels by wrapping some rope around the bar to make the balancing act a lot easier.

Finally, i happy to say after a few months of doing this on my knees i was able to start off from a standing position jackie chan style.

I have pretty strong six pack now, I can take blows from a 10 year old. But i still have a nice sheet of flab over my abs from the lack of running this winter.

Goodluck to those who dare this feat.

This is a great little device to work your abs, but it's not going to give you a six pack all by itself... you need to watch your diet as well. Two tips:
1. make sure you stretch before use; especially your back and shoulders, since they will be getting a workout too.
2. use it on a thick carpet or put a folded towel under your knees; you'll be a lot more comfortable.

All in all, this is far superior to the more expensive ab devices you see on late night TV.

I bought this product because it looked a lot smaller than the other similar ab slide/roller/etc devices. I have one of the big, bulky blue ab devices and I love it. Those things have an internal spring that provides some resistance in the movement. Plus they have a much wider wheel base that makes them far more stable than this ab wheel. Overall, those isolate your abs much better and make the workout a lot easier on your arms and wrists than the ab wheel does. So you end up being able to do more reps to target your abs. So if you want a better ab workout, I'd go look at one of those. However, this ab wheel is MUCH smaller and therefore much more portable. I can disassemble it and easily fit it in a suitcase for traveling--which I do a lot. That way I can take it with me and not miss out on my daily ab workout. For that purpose, I love this thing. But because of its drawbacks, I have a feeling if I had ordered this thing as my first ab toy of this type I would have given up in frustration--its simply not sable enough to make this type of exercise comfortable for daily use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says it does, but..., February 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ironman Double Ab Wheel (Sports)
FYI, I used to have a pack back in high school which unfortunately was lost due to a lack of activity. I got this device to help with getting it back. This review will be short and simple.

First, let's be clear: IT DOES WORK. If you do three sets of 20 rolls per set, you'll feel the burn the next day for sure. Don't expect miracles overnight though. You're not going to see a full on six pack without working on this device for a while.

Second, so you know, this is nothing more than two wheels with a bar. That's it. You could probably put this together yourself, but why bother?

Lastly, there is only one negative: the hand grips are NOT comfortable. They use the same handles as regular bicycle handlebars which you would assume should be perfect for this application, right? Wrong. The problem with that is this: on a bicycle, your gravity base is centered on the seat, even when you're leaning forward. On this device, even though you're on your knees, your weight becomes distributed (which is why this device also works your arms and shoulders...you're naturally adding more weight as you do the motion, causing you to work harder. If this weren't the case, this device wouldn't work). That means that pressure points are being created on your hands, making for a very uncomfortable situation. If it weren't for that, you could get a lot more effect from your workout (see the Perfect Pushup's grips for an example of what I'm talking about).

So, does it work? Yes. But you won't be able to maximize your workout since the grips will make your hands hurt after a while. Very unfortunate, because it is otherwise a very effective little unit and a great value at the price.

The Double Ab Wheel is almost as good as it gets. Its really simple, and its really inexpensive. Best of all, even though I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, it seems to be quite effective. By adding this one new element into the array of ab exercises I do on a (semi)regular basis, there is already a noticeable improvement in my strength and physique. But I should caution you to be careful when using this product. I think that someone, especially with an already weak back, could really hurt themselves. The Ab Wheel requires you to support nearly all of your upper body weight with little more than your core muscles. This is what its designed for and the reason that it works, but I have sometimes felt a slight pinch in my lower back. Just remember to keep your back slightly curled and no not to extend too far forward. Other than that, fork over the seven bucks or whatever it costs and just get it and enjoy your new abs.
