I work in the crane/construction industry. I spend every day handling heavy cables, shackles, slings, metal, lumber.. you name it. I do all of that in every weather condition imaginable. In the past five years I've grown to become a glove fanatic. I love the way comfortable gloves feel and I'm always trying out new pairs of gloves as the ones I have get destroyed.

About two years ago I bought a pair of these Ranchworx gloves as a bit of a splurge. I was gambling on the Ironclad line based on the decent performance of some of their synthetic gloves, even though those gloves can have stitching issues. Sometimes I'll have a pair of the synthetic kind last 5 or 6 months, sometimes 5 or 6 weeks. I'm used to buying a new pair of gloves every two or three months on average because of that, and I accept it as the norm for the abuse I put them through. But these Ranchworx gloves have made it through every bit of the worst conditions I come across, and they've done it in spades. I still buy new pairs of gloves, just because I'm a maniac and love to try new gloves, but I keep coming back to these things. They're amazing. I've gotten diesel on them, picked up sharp metal, and handled rusty chains on a daily basis. All I have to do is wash them off, wring 'em out and throw them back in my car. Awesome. They've been wet and dry so many times now I can't even begin to count. I've finally used them up and made it all the way through the leather, but man, did it take a crap load of effort. If Ironclad gloves fit you well, these gloves will impress you.

I'M A HIGHLY ACTIVE OUTDOORSMAN. My trade is building contractor specifically carpentry but do many other aspects as well. I also sell firewood and heat my home w/firewood as a supplement to Gas. I cut, haul split, load, up to 10 cord a year by myself. I also ride a Honda crf450x in the woods and on trails. I say all this so you know what my gloves go through. These Ranchworx are very cool looking, but under heavy use they split at the seams on the fingers. They don't fit too great either. I wear xl but have to constantly pul them on and push down between fingers. There are better gloves out there for the money, like Carharrt or CLC.

I have owned several pairs of Ironclad gloves over the years; most were the synthetic heavy duty work gloves. I decided a couple of years ago to buy a pair of the Ranchworx Gloves, as the leather palm would be comfortable, they had the long wrist cuff, and they were advertised as really tough gloves that could stand up to a lot of rough work.

First, you must know that I am an IT Administrator and only use these gloves for some work around the house; they are not receiving the punishment that other reviewers say theirs are put through.

I received the gloves in good order and began using them; within the first month the leather on the side of the right index finger split; I stitched it together with some kevlar fishing line and continued to use them. At six months the gloves had holes in the finger tips, more splits where the leather appeared thin and weak, and the leather was horribly abraded.

The work that did this? I took apart a 16 x 20 pressure treated deck and stacked the wood, stacked one and a half cords of oak firewood (purchased, the gloves were not subjected to cutting the wood), and handled a variety of small limbs, etc. in doing yard work. The gloves have never been subjected to steel, wire, cables, rope, sanding products or abrasives, barb wire, or any of the things that you would expect "Ranch" gloves to handle.

Realizing that many people claim these to be the best leather gloves made, I assumed I had gotten a pair with inferior leather. I contacted Ironclad by email and received no response, not even a form letter. After waiting several months I contacted them again. Still no response. After several attempts I emailed their customer service department asking if they actually provided customer service. No response.

I just wanted to update this. I sent the gloves back to Ironclad and today received a replacement pair. I am glad because I really like these gloves. I am hopeful these will hold up better and that I just got some that were defective in some way.

I purchased a pair of these because I saw a television show about them and because they were washable leather so I'd be able to wash the sweat out of them.

I am not a hard user of them. I also chose this pair because they are called "Ranchworx" so I assumed they were tough enough to work on the ranch, i.e do some fencing (no barb wire), move hay bales, move fence panels, etc.

Well they didn't last 6 months! My right index finger (dominant hand) was worn through and only gets larger and larger. Also split at the seems below my thumb.

Then when I called them to return them for a warranty replacement they said I had to send them in and they would "review" them. Could be weeks before anything happens.

How disappointing!

If you need a good, tough, durable pair of gloves...I would avoid these.
