1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE, January 6, 2000

This review is from: Ironic: Alanis Morissette - The Story (Paperback)
I absolutely LOVE Alanis. But this book is HORRIBLE. It has HARDLY anything about her. He just babbles on about Joni Mitchell and Bjork and people like that! The word Alanis is mentioned like 2 times in the whole book. The pics are kool, but the words are stupid. Don't bother buying this because you won't hear anything about alanis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative or just inaccurate?, April 20, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Ironic: Alanis Morissette - The Story (Paperback)
There are lot's of new thing that I hadn't known before, but this guy
( author) is sooo repetivitve! He used the word Irony about 20 times on
the first 3 pages! Every sentence has 'Irony" in it! I almost shot
myself the 10 time I saw that word! And most of the book isn't even
about Alanis! There's pages on Jim Morisson, Tori Amos, Sheryl Crow,
etc. I mean, a few pages on those artists, and explainging their
realtionship to Alanis is fine, but this guy goes in to so much detail
and irrelevant facts which don't even add to the story of Alanis
Morissette. I truly don't believe that the author knows what he is
saying. In one sentence he critisizes Alanis, and in the next sentence,
he has a totally different opinion! In addition, how could you possibly
write an entire book without even a single interview with Alanis? I
remember stumbling upon something that he said about Alanis' past that
was inaccurate. I know that it was false information because Alanis said
something totally different out of her own mouth. From all we know, he
could have developed 200 pages of facts on Alanis from his own head!
He got some facts from the internet which aren't as solid as most people
would like.

Sorry, I just think that someone else could have done a mcuh better job
on this book. With more info. on her family , her past, about the
future, rather than NAR artists!
Just my opinion, no offense to anyone who thinks otherwise :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Another Quick Study, September 19, 2001
This review is from: Ironic: Alanis Morissette - The Story (Paperback)
Essentially that title sums it up. The problem with most of these kinds of books is they cover every facet of the performer's life but they are too close in time and too enthusiastic to be definitive on the career of someone who is clearly talented and articulate but has a long way to go to develop to the level of those whom we will remember a hundred years on. This is a source on a life in progress not anywhere near a final word and analysis.
This review will serve as well for the second edition when it is listed here.
