Great Wood But Not Enough Room,

The wood finish is very nice but I found that the compartments for tea bags are tight. A regular Bigelow or Twinings individually wrapped tea bag will fit but it is a very tight squeeze. The lid will not close all the way if they are placed in the box standing straight up. Also, the chain broke as soon as I opened the box. All in all, the tea chest's wood is very nice and the compartments many.

The box is lovely to look at but the compartments are too small for any tea bags in paper wrappers, like Stash or Twinnings brand. It would fit any unwrapped tea bags but I fear that might contaminate the flavor of all of the tea bags if they were to all sit in the closed box without wrappers.

It was very pretty, enough for display. However, the compartments were too small to hold my various tea bags flat. It's not much help if they have to be placed sideways so you can't see what the flavor is!

Not quite right. Too tight.,

Like others have noted, the size of each compartment is too small. Most tea bag brands (not just Bigelow) are both too tall and too wide to fit comfortably whether they're placed sitting upright (usual), standing on their side, or laying on their backs. When sitting upright, as is usually displayed in these type of products and which works the best, the lid doesn't close. I'm not sure what tea bags the maker of this box think the rest of us are using. If you use dainty little tea bags this one will work. If not look elsewhere.

This product is very good and at the same time very practical which is what I was looking for. Only thing that would be helpful is a latch on the front.

Nice tea caddy for average sized tea bags. Not air tight, so I would only use packaged tea bags in it.
Otherwise attractive, ornamental tea caddy.

Very nice box. will be buying another to store all the teas we have. Makes selecting a tea for a cup a real joy. Just beautiful!

Disappointed,

This tea chest is a fine box to keep small tea bags in. I thought, from the dimensions and picture, it would store my tea safely on a counter. Sadly, the measurements of the compartments is narrower than the pyramid shaped difusers of my choice of tea. It works fine for more conventional difuser designs.

Real tea anyone?,

I find these reviews highly amusing because REAL gourmet tea drinkers don't buy tea that comes prepackaged. Gosh, I can't even remember the last time I drank the dust that they call "tea" and stuff into little square filter bags. REAL tea is not sold in grocery stores or novelty gift shops, it comes loose and is sold by the ounce; and, an ounce of loose tea can be stored quite nicely in a compact compartment of a storage box such as this.
I have a very similar bamboo one that has 8 compartments, but this box also looks quite lovely. In fact, I may purchase it because I have enough varieties of tea that I really need a bigger one. Incidentally, these boxes are also ideal for storing whole spices and dried herbs. The important thing to note about Acacia and Bamboo woods is that they are both antimicrobial which will keep the contents from getting stale and moldy. By the way, if any of you want to try REAL tea, my favorite mail-order supplier is The Tea Table in Fort Collins, CO -[...]. Their prices are manageable, (although on the rise lately like everywhere else due to the increase in gas prices). However, if you want more instant gratification, you can pay exorbitant prices for some fairly decent teas at Teavana, (now located in many local malls / shopping centers). Tazo teas at Starbucks aren't bad either, although they are strictly herbal tisanes, and not real tea. |
