After eight long years, attorney Sasha McCandless is about to make partner at a prestigious law firm. All she has to do is keep her head down and her billable hours up.
When a plane operated by her client slams into the side of a mountain, killing everyone aboard, Sasha gears up to defend the inevitable civil lawsuits.  She soon realizes the crash was no accident: a developer has created an application that can control a commercial plane's onboard computer from a smartphone.
Sasha joins forces with a federal air marshal, and they race to prevent another airline disaster. But when people close to the matter start turning up dead, Sasha must rely on both her legal skills and her Krav Maga training to stop the madman before he kills her.

"For a first novel, Irreparable Harm is a polished, highly-accomplished page-turner; it grips you from the opening page; it has a great female protagonist and some equally great supporting characters; it is also very, very hard to put down." -Esofagus, A Vine Voice Reviewer

"The core characters were well developed. I especially enjoyed Sasha because she was such a strong, physically capable and intelligent female lead." -The Kindle Book Review

A good crime yarn with some courtroom drama thrown in. Sasha, the main character is engaging and you're cheering for her throughout the book as there are several characters that doubt her or, worse yet, trying to physically hurt her. I would have liked to have seen more courtroom scenes and less "Kung Fu" or whatever martial art Sasha practiced but the author seemed to focus more on the lawyer's skill in the later.

I left off a couple of stars for two reasons. Unrealistic law enforcement involvement-- Sasha's partner in this investigation is a lone TSA special agent who just dropped in? Huh? At the hint of any criminal activity in a major aircraft accident, the FBI would be all over it or should at least have been called in.

The other 'just too far out' premise is the aircraft autopilot mod that caused the crash. I have the luxury of being a retired airline pilot..so I have some knowledge of their operations. There is just no way this modification could have sneaked by the FAA, airline inspectors, mechanics and/or pilots. The paperwork involved to mod a certified passenger aircraft is 10 feet tall. To covertly do this would involve a conspiracy of dozens of people. Of course this is a very parochial criticism.

Even with that negative, I'll probably give her next book a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Legal Thriller!!!!!!!!!!! April 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Irreparable Harm by Melissa F. Miller is a fast paced riveting
page-turner! I couldn't put it down and it consumed my entire weekend until I finished the very last page! The storyline is believable and full of suspense! I fell in love with the characters and am hoping she brings them back in another story. Melissa F. Miller has incredible talent as a writer and her knowledge of the legal system is very thorough. I am really looking forward to her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting Read June 6, 2011
Format:Paperback
What a riveting page turning read. I loved Sasha's character so is believable. This mystery thriller is one of the best books I have read for 2011. Melissa knows the legal system extremely well and it shows through out the book. The good and the bad people were underestimating Sasha at every turn. It was nice to see for a change.
I also like the technology side of it. The old saying, "There is an app for that" is so true. You never know what is going to happen next.
All the turns and twists and all the characters are great. This book is defiantly a book to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sophomoric
Although there are some fun descriptions of Sasha fighting against bigger and stronger opponents, as well as an interesting story line, the ending just sort of fell apart.

Took a while to get into it. Not one of the more interesting "Criminal Themed" books. Sadly I would not push it to other readers.
