4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book!
I guess we all read books for different reasons. I got this book for Christmas. I quickly went to the review section on Amazon.com and was deflated to read some of the reviews on this book. I really enjoyed this book! It took me away from my world for 3-4 days and that is what I needed after Christmas. Thanks Danielle for this terrific book-it really added to my...

3.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible Forces, not too irresistible
I have been an avid Danielle Steel reader for years and with every book you find likes and dislikes. 3.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible Forces, not too irresistible, January 11, 2000
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
I have been an avid Danielle Steel reader for years and with every book you find likes and dislikes. With Irresistible Forces I found Steve to be and honest and hard working individual trying to make the best out of a busy trauma unit, i enjoyed the way Steel sent her lady character around the world on a working business trip with a handsome, sophisticated, wealthy man with no hanky panky, it showed that Merrie had integrity, that she was committed to her husband.. As a dislike, the story was drawn out, it could have been done in less words, there was a lot of repetitiveness, i didn't feel really connected with the characters, you couldn't get into the storyline with them... I'll still add it to my collection of Steel novels but the chances of reading it again are slim to none... Not her best work...

2.0 out of 5 stars Easy Reading, But Not a Feel Good Book, November 22, 1999
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
I used to buy every Danielle Steel book without reading the fly covers. My favorites are Message from Nam and Family Secrets. Some of her more recent ones I wasn't too crazy about. Irresistible Forces sounded good and I have to admit I finished it in a day. Easy reading. However, being happily married, I was downright depressed when I finished this book and rather than putting it in the keeper pile I put it in the "books to be given to the library bag. I just found this book really depressing and I can't help wondering if Steel's recent marital woes are reflected in her writing. Hope she gets happy soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Not Much of A Story, December 6, 1999
By
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
There wasn't much more to this book then what was written on the cover. Only ONE thing towards the end that wasn't mentioned on the cover, and that didn't effect anything. It never "grabbed" me, kept boring me with details that made no difference to the story whatsoever. Same things over and over and over, like we didn't get it the first 5 times before. It was as if a child with simple language had written this story. I kept reading and hoping SOMETHING interesting would happen, but then the book ended. Save your money or I'll sell you my copy, CHEAP. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Typical of Steel's Most Recent Work, November 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
Although the storyline was readable, Irresistible Forces is very typical of Danielle Steel's latest work: unsophisticated, repetitive, shallow, barely edited. I wish she would come out with something that resembled her earlier and more worthwhile novels. (I wish she would read her customer reviews so she would have some sort of clue about the quality of her work!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Perfect book to take to bed, guaranteed to put you to sleep., November 19, 1999
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
I have read every one of Ms. Steel's books, but this may be the last one! Is she getting senile, or am I? She repeated herself over and over and over, yes, they were both workaholics! I love to read, but this was almost work to finish. Please, publish less and give your fans MORE.

1.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible Forces, November 17, 2000

Danielle Steel has obviously forgotten how to write an original book, have an original idea, or at least one of any interest. This book dragged on and on, nothing much happened in the book to make it exciting, and the only character that you really end up liking is the husband of the main character. In fact, I actually hoped the main character would end up unhappy. Irresistible Forces was repetitive, Steel used the same filler words over and over, like a teenager would trying to reach the word requirement of an essay paper. As a fan of Danielle Steel (of her older books), I really think she has forgotten how to write, so she sticks with a generic form that she uses for all of her books, and just changes the character names and location, and obstacle to overcome. She obviously is trying to hit her QUANTITY requirement on her contract, rather than take the time to write an new, interesting QUALITY book. She did a great job in earlier books (like Messages From Nam), but now her writing is just recycled, boring stuff. Save your money!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it, December 4, 2000
By A Customer
More than anything, I was disturbed by the message that this book conveys, that fleeting feelings are more important than a 15 year marriage. I think the outcome could have been much better! It made me sad. Besides that, it was a very hum drum book, and was quite predictable. Don't waste your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste the Money or the Time, December 6, 1999
By
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
Danielle Steele's latest is a superficial story about an incredibly selfish woman. Ms. Steele attempts to create the "Perfect Woman" for her character in the blonde, successful, rich, etc. (ad nauseum) personna of Meredith, a/k/a "Merrie", who unceremoniously dumps her brilliant but rumpled-looking husband of more than fourteen years for her California-style, tan, rich and famous new boss. After an unsuccessful attempt at a coast-to-coast marriage interrupted by a totally unbelievable number of coincidental disasters which prevent Merrie from spending the weekend with her husband, she ends up in bed with her boss. Please Ms. Steele - try to imagine that your readers have at least the sense of a flea and come up with more believable characters and plots.

1.0 out of 5 stars No plot and repetitive, November 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
What a waste of money! I've read all of Danielle Steels books and this was soooo disappointing. I thought "Merrie" was a selfish, cold, unfeeling career woman and Steve was a fool! I kept expecting some great event to occur but it never did! The book was one big repetition.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT UP TO HER STANDARDS, December 1, 1999

This review is from: Irresistible Forces (Hardcover)
MS STEEL'S LAST FIVE BOOKS, INCLUDING THIS ONE, HAVE GIVEN THE IMPRESSION THAT SHE IS JUST CRANKING THEM OUT JUST TO HAVE ANOTHER BOOK IN THE STORES. THE STORIES ARE SIMPLISTIC WITH VERY LITTLE RESEARCH. HER BOOKS SUCH AS JEWELS, ZOYA, THURSTON HOUSE AND MESSAGE FROM NAM ARE EXAMPLES OF THE GREAT DANIELLE STEEL STYLE. IF SHE KEEP UP HER CURRENT TREND OF NOTHINGLESS SHE WILL LOSE A LOT OF DIEHARD STEEL FANS. THIS BOOK IS A ONE DAY READ WITH LITTLE PLEASURE. NOT WORTH THE DAY.
