This is Jessica Simpson's highly anticipated 2nd piece of work & might I add that I was extremely impressed.I had heard negative reviews coming from peeps but 1 of my mottos is to have your own experiences & not believe evrything u hear or read.

1.IRRESISTIBLE-5/5 This is the peppy title track that introduces the world to the new & improved Jessica. It's a good song to dance to! Especially in a club!

2.A LITTLE BIT-5/5 "It's not about who's weak or strong,it's about what I need to make this last" ahhh,I love that line in Jessica's informed 2nd single, great choice Simpson clan! I looove this tune! Alot of girl power & attitude!

3.FOREVER IN YOUR EYES-4/5 This is 1 of the 2 songs that Nick,Jess's beau wrote,it shows us the more sensual & passionate side of her.Basically it shows how Jess has changed from a sweet 17 yr.old girl from TX to a mature 21 yr.old woman who's in control.

4.THERE YOU WERE (Duet w/ Marc Anthony)-5/5 I love anything M.Anthony does so u can bet I loved this! It's a very thoughtful song,it sounds like it's gonna b a theme to a movie!

5.WHAT'S IT GONNA BE-5/5 A Britney-inspired track,it's a booty-boppin' type of song! ROCK ON! GIRL POWER!

6.WHEN U TOLD ME U LOVED ME-5/5 A sad Jess ballad,it's a tearjerker.I like how it's peaceful & easy 2 listen 2,she doesn't get really high in the singing in this song...nuff said! My third fave!

7.HOT LIKE FIRE-5/5 My fave on the album,I'm actually feeling a young Michael Jackson when she starts getting really into the song! I dunno why, hehe. It's Jess telling off her cheating lover.MORE POWER 2 JESS!

8.IMAGINATION-4/5 I looove,love,love the beats in this song,really creative.Really catchy lyrics! "I wished upon a star 2night,that u would grant my wish 2night,I wish I may I wish I might,have a wish I wished tonight,take me 2 the 1 in my imagination!"

9.TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN-3/5 The 2nd song Nick wrote,it,again shows us the more grown up Jess,I wouldn't dream of Jess singing this.Especially how she sings it! On the + side, the lyrics are pretty good!

10.FOR YOUR LOVE-5/5 I love this song! It's one of my faves! The vocals are awesome! It has very meaningful lyrics unlike some other artists *cough* Britney *cough*.

11.I NEVER-3/5 This is produced by Rodney Jerkins,it's easy to tell bcuz all his songs have the same beat & Jess says "Darkchild" in the beginning. It's a hot song! Jess wasn't joking when she said she was going more R&B

12.HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW-4/5 I like the Lauryn Hill version on Sister Act 2 more than Jess's gospel version but u can tell that she would also succeed in the gospel/CCM circuit but I love the instruments & the gospel choir! Jess used to sing this at church when she was a little girl!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok- so it is pop.... so what?, June 13, 2001

OK, yeah- this CD is straight up pop. Not really much substance, not much creativity...but who cares? It's hot. The songs are fun, energetic and just cool. Honestly, yeah, she is copying Britney. But y'all- think about it. Britney has sold like ten million albums, is admired by many (hated by many.....but we're not talking about that!), and worshipped by just about every single guy in the world. Who wouldn't want that? Maybe she would use this Cd as a vehicle to acheive success and then put out strong, expressive music. Think about this too, Madonna started singing pop that everyone wrote her off. Now, the same critics are salivating over her. So, who are y'all to say this is limiting her career? Sorry- It just bugs me! Ok- the CD. I bought it cuz I like the single "Irresistable". it's a sugary-pop, radio friendly, over produced song. So?!!!!! It has fun beats, is catchy, and just straight up enjoyable. The rest of the Cd basically follows suit. So if you like good pop- this CD is for you. For everyone else who complains about even the single- why exactly did you get this CD if you don't like pop? What were you expecting? Some groundbreaking material? that it's not. But it's fun, lighthearted and catchy as hell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jessica is Irresistible!, June 10, 2001
By

This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
Jessica Simpson's new record Irresistible is just that - Irresistible. The uptempos are fun loving, and hipper then those off her 1999 debut, Sweet Kisses. Of course "Irresistible" is exellent but other tracks that just happened to be fast and amazing include, "What's It Gonna Be," "Hot Like Fire," and "I Never" (which is produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins.) Miss Simpson's ballads from Sweet Kisses were powerful and emotional, but Irresistible's ballads are much more dramatic. My favorite by far is "When You Told Me You Loved Me," which was written by Walter Afanasieff who writes with diva Mariah Carey on every album. The song definitely has a Mariah feel to it, but Jessica's vocals complete it. "To Fall In Love Again" was written by Afanasieff, as well as her sweetheart Nick Lachey. This album is minus a guest appearance from Nick like Sweet Kisses did with "Where You Are," but is equipped with a duet with Latin singer, Marc Anthony ("There You Were"). Concluding Irresistible, Jessica chose the gospel verse "His Eye Is On The Sparrow," which is by far the most interesting track on the album starting off slow but ending up with a fast and happy beat at the end. If you liked Sweet Kisses, I'm positive that you'll love Irresistible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
Jessica Simpson has one of the greatest vocals in hollywood. I can honestly say that this is one of the few pop albums I still love. There were a bunch of boy bands and little teeny-boopers that I loved as a kid, but I havent listened to those in years. This album is an amazing pop album. I urge everyone to get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
Jessica Simpson's sophomore effort is, frankly, a lot like her first. But that's not a bad thing for pop music fans, like myself! Here's my review of each track:

1. "Irresistible" - I'm sure most of you have heard this. It's a funky, uptempo song about a guy (her ex Nick) that Jessica finds irresistible. It's a very sing-a-long type song, and very much pop music.

2. "A Little Bit" - Jessica's second single. I didn't like this song at first, but it grew on me. The music, again, is very much pop, but it's actually quite a unique song in the way that it's written.

3. "Forever In Your Eyes" - The CD's first of many ballads, and one of average quality. It's not really anything special, except for the unique Arabic-sounding music and Jessica's vocals.

4. "There You Were" - This is another ballad, and a duet with Marc Anthony. It's a very big "sweeping" ballad, and very pretty, although very slow. If you don't like ballads, you won't like this song at all.

5. "What's It Gonna Be" - The most poppy song on the CD, and also my favorite. It's catchy as heck! The music is quite a bit like a Britney song, but Jessica's singing makes it sound completely unique.

6. "When You Told Me You Loved Me" - Written by Jessica's ex, Nick Lachey, this song is kind of ironic, but that's beside the point. It's yet another ballad, albeit a more bitter and sad one. This one isn't really anything special, it's kind of filler.

7. "Hot Like Fire" - A good, funky song about a cheater. The only problem: Jessica's singing gets a little indecipherable and there aren't lyrics included! I had to look 'em up online.

8. "Imagination" - Another very poppy song, like "What's It Gonna Be," only more R&B infused. Definitely a fun, danceable song.

9. "To Fall In Love Again" - I have a hard time telling the difference between this and "When You Told Me You Loved Me." They sound very similiar.

10. "For Your Love" - The BEST ballad on the album! It's very reminiscent of "Your Faith In Me" from Jessica's debut album, but not identical, and much better. It's just a beautiful song, and not as slow and boring as "Your Faith In Me" was.

11. "I Never" - A very funky R&B type track produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. Catchy, fun, and with good vocals.

12. "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" - This is a religious song. It's not bad, but would be much better if it weren't just the same verse repeated over and over again! It definitely sounds "gospely."

BOTTOM LINE: Good album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Second Review, June 9, 2001
By
Chris S. "cscotts" (atlanta, ga United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
I've already commented on this album once, somewhat scathingly I might add, when I first heard it. That opinion was based on one listen, which I feel was a mistake that I should correct. First, I do stand by my opinion that the project is a gratuitous attempt by her label to position her as a Britney clone(again witness the cover)and Mariah successor. The fact is in the long run her talent will be the tell tell sign on her status as a superstar or pop music footnote. With that said, the album overall is a fairly easy listen, with some great tracks but also some not so great ones. The title track is pretty good, but there is probably at least four or five better songs on the album, chiefly 'Hot Like Fire', which works up a nice r&b-egdged pop groove(though I'm not sure if she convincingly pulls off the jilted routine that well), as well as the two Jerkins-produced tracks, 'Imagination' and the superior 'I Never'(though neither approach the greatness of his best work with Destiny's Child and Whitney Houston). The rest of the uptempo tunes, which actually outweigh the ballads, are fairly standard, teen pop fare( As a sidenote, if you want to hear a GREAT teen pop anthem, check out Mandy Moore's 'In My Pocket', which outstrips anything on this cd and is the best baby diva record since 'Genie In A Bottle'). As for the ballads, only 'For Your Love' matches 'I Wanna Love You Forever' for sheer drama, and, again, the rest are pretty standard issue(both tracks by her now ex-beau Nick Lachey are average at best). Now that I've eaten my words, I will close by saying, relatively speaking, this album is better than alot of the teen pop fodder out there, particularly the last Backstreet and Britney albums, both pretty half-baked, and she must be given some props for at least adding a little r&b edge to the album. It's just a little disheartening to know that she's got more going for her talent-wise than being a label's current "studio" creation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Can you say...dreadful???, July 13, 2004
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this album in 2001, I thought it was a very good pop album. Recently I was watching Newlyweds and thought about listening to this CD again just for fun. Thank God I borrowed it and didn't buy it myself. At the time I thought this was good because teen pop was all the rage. Listening to it now, I see what a worthless piece of junk it is. Jessica simply tried too hard with this album, and it shows. Whether it's trying to sound hip over cliched hip hop beats or trying to sound vindictive in the horrible "Hot Like Fire", this album reeks of desperation. In fact, her label used this album to sex up her image, and since there is justice in this world, their ploy failed miserably. The only thing worth listening to is the title track, and even that isn't as good as I once thought it was. The album truly goes over the top in the last song, "His Eye Is On the Sparrow". It starts off tolerable, but then it goes off in a hilariously bad direction that completely ruins the song. She tries to sound "soulful" here by making it sound as if the song was recorded in an African-American church, and that is what torpedoes the song. I admire the fact that she wants to sing a song about Jesus, but that doesn't automatically make it a good song.

I do not recommend this album. The lack of imagination and the abundance of desperation are just too apparent to ignore. This album does no favors for Jessica. I like her show, but this CD is proof of why her career was going down the toilet before she did Newlyweds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, November 5, 2001
By
Sue (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
In my opinion, Jessica Simpson is a highly talented, and wonderful singer. 'Sweet Kisses', her debut album, was very good, and 'Irresistable' shows more maturity. Let me review it for you.

1. Irresistable- You've probably heard this on the radio enough times, but it really is a catchy song with a catchy tune. I can never get tired of it.
2. A Little Bit- A great song, with a really fun tune. Jessica's voice is perfect, and it can go really high on a few points.
3. Forever in Your Eyes- This song I consider a filler. However, the Arabian music is really boppy, and it's not really a bad song.
4. There You Were (Featuring March Anthony)- I know this song got mixed reviews, but my review of it would be that it's a spectacular song. Both voices are very strong and beautiful
5. What's It Gonna Be- This song does remind me of Britney Spears, but when Jessica sings it, it's really different. A great song.
6. When You Told Me You Loved Me- One of my favorites. It's a beautiful ballad, and definitely one of the reasons you should buy this cd.
7. Hot Like Fire- A great song which shows Jessica's maturity because it's about cheating. The phone conversation also helps you get through the song so you understand it.
8. Imagination- This song, to me, is considered a filler. It's lyrics are a bit unoriginal, and the tune is kind of annoying.
9. To Fall in Love Again- Definitely another reason to buy this cd. Jessica shows how great she is in ballads, and how strong her voice really is.
10. For Your Love- One of my favorites. She hits some high notes on this one, and it sounds spectacular.
11. I Never- This song was pretty good, but sort of bland. Not one of the better ones.
11. His Eye is on the Sparrow- Gospel music isn't really the hottest thing right now, and I don't like it, but this song is beautiful. Makes me wonder why the record companies didn't allow Jessica to sing gospel.

This cd was beautiful, much better than 'Sweet Kisses.' This is definitely a cd you should not miss.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost irresistible to me, July 18, 2002
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
The direction of this album is a little different than SWEET KISSES. It has a little more of an R&B touch on some of the upbeat songs, but an adult contemporary touch on some of the slower songs. Since Columbia Records lost Mariah Carey, it seems as if they are maybe setting Jessica up to take her place. My favorite songs on the album are "For Your Love," "There You Were," "A Little Bit," and "Irresistible."

1. Irresistible--4/5. Very catchy pop uptempo song with great beats (the first single--this is the original, not the version with JD and Lil Bow Wow)

2. A Little Bit--4/5. Another catchy pop uptempo song that is awesome.

3. Forever in Your Eyes--4/5. Co-written by Nick Lachey. Nice mid-tempo song with Spanish flare and nice lyrics.

4. There You Were(duet w/ Marc Anthony)--5/5. Excellent duet! Sounds like it should be a major soundtrack soung. This ballad showcases both Jessica and Marc's amazing vocal ability; they are well matched.

5. What's It Gonna Be--3/5. An OK "light pop" song. Jessica says this album is supposed to be more mature, but this song doesn't really fit that mode; it sounds kinda childish.

6. When You Told Me You Loved Me--4/5. Slow ballad that sounds like something Mariah Carey would sing. Nice.

7. Hot Like Fire--3/5. An angry uptempo song about a guy cheating on his girlfriend with her best friend. At some points she is practically yelling the lyrics, but I guess it sounds appropriate for the song.

8. Imagination--4/5. R&B flavored song produced by Rodney Jerkins (Destiny's Child, Brandy). Has a catchy, bouncy beat; good song for a party.

9. To Fall in Love Again.--3/5. Another song co-written by Nick Lachey, another Mariah Carey-like ballad.

10. For Your Love--5/5. Beautiful ballad from the writers of "I Wanna Love You Forever." This is one of the songs on which her voice sounds the best on the album.

11. I Never--4/5. An uptempo R&B like song produced by Rodney Jerkins.

12. His Eye is On the Sparrow--4/5. Gospel/church song. Jessica (and the choir) does a great job singing this song; it's very uplifting.

It took me a little while to get used to this album. I liked Sweet Kisses better, but if you are a big Jessica Simpson fan (like me), then I think you will like this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Irresistible!!, June 5, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Irresistible (Audio CD)
Jessica Simpson's new cd is blazzin' hot. It surpassed all of my expectations, in fact the second cd is actually better than the first cd. Here is my review of each of the songs on the cd out of 5, 5 being the best.

1. Irresistible (5/5) - the song is just hot what else can I say. It's a great song to start off the album as well as a great first single.

2. A Little Bit (4/5) - the song is really catchy and it really gets stuck in your head. It has a really catchy pop beat that sort of reminds me of Britney Spears' "Soda Pop" song.

3. Forever In Your Eyes (5/5) - this is a great mid-tempo song and the guitars just add that extra little thing that will surely make this song a hit.

4. There You Were (4/5) - you could call this song the "Were You Are" of this album. Jessica and Marc Anthony just sound great together (though not as good as Jessica and Nick from 98 Degrees).

5. What's It Gonna Be (3/5) - I didn't really quite like this song the first time I heard it, but I listened to it a few more times it sort of grew on me.

6. When You Told Me You Loved Me (5/5) - this is where Jessica really shines. This is a great ballad, it's very deep and emotional. Not only that but it has a Mariah Carey feel to it.

7. Hot Like Fire (2/5) - this song is not Jessica at all. The song doesn't suit Jessica's voice, she sounds angry in this song. I think this song would have been better if maybe Britney Spears sang it instead.

8. Imagination (2/5) - the beat of this song is just annoying. it has a really bubble gummy pop beat that is just pointless. Jessica's vocals are wasted on this song.

9. To Fall In Love Again (5/5) - this is a geat song. Jessica just sounds great when she sings ballads. The song is a bit long but that's alright because there is more to enjoy.

10. For Your Love (5/5) - Jessica does it once again. This song is absolutely fabulous. It is like Christina's "I Turn To You" and Britney's "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" all rolled into one.

11. I Never (4/5) - it has really catchy r&b beat. In fact, it sort of sound like Toni Braxton's "He Wasn't Man Enough" This song would make a really great dance tune that will surely get a lot of club play.

12. His Eye Is On The Sparrow (4/5) - in this song Jessica is going back to her roots, except she adds a little pop to his gospel song. This song is good because it starts of slow and it slowly develops into a fastpaced gospel tune.

Anyways, I hope this review helps anyone out there who is planning on purchasing this cd (believe me it's worth every penny).
