5.0 out of 5 stars I have to disagree ----, November 11, 2000
This review is from: The Irresistible Rose Is Rose (Paperback)
"Rose is Rose" was a simple and rather cutsey-poo strip for the first five years. Recently, however, it has blossomed. Fantasy elements like the mutable, sword-weilding, mobile-phone-carrying guardian angel who overees Pasquale (the couple's child), or Rose's multiple personalities, (expressed by her subjective mutation into Vikki the Biker Chick, or into herself as a child) have enriched it immensely. I hope it continues to improve.

Although I admit to being a long time Calvin and Hobbes fan, I have to say that I've grown to prefer Rose is Rose. I love the strip and all of it's sweetness - even selfish cousin Clem. I've seen a lot of people compare this strip to Calvin but I have to say that Pasquale holds his own. While Calvin and his father have anything but a loving relationship, Pasquale worships his father and the teasing between the two is always a gentle sort.

For anyone who loves a family strip without biting sarcasm this is the book for you.

For a life full of complications and schedules, it is a relief to read something that makes your heart and mind lighter. I can identify with Vicki the Biker Chick, child Rose and Rose herself as she simplifies her life. I think anyone with a life full of stress and complications, it will put life in a simplier perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Irresistible is Right, June 7, 2001
This review is from: The Irresistible Rose Is Rose (Paperback)
If you bought this Rose Is Rose book then you've probably purchased some previous books. If not, then what are you waiting for?! This book reminds us that life does not always have to be so grim. We all share humanity. This comically reminds us that life is a treasure and we should value it like gold. You will love this book, as I do. Enjoy your reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Irresistible!, May 5, 2001

Though my local paper does not get this strip, even I can tell that it has recently blossomed. In its earlier stages it seemed cutsie and corny, now that Pasquale is talking, and Rose's alter-egos are in full gear, we are full experiencing the world of this adorable family. Roses frequent meetings with her ladybig, Pasquales guardian angels slip ups and Jimbo's constant teasing (Pasquale! Did you remember to pay the moon bill?") have kept me laughing and sympathizing. A strip to go down in history.

4.0 out of 5 stars For what it is, it's good, October 6, 2000
This review is from: The Irresistible Rose Is Rose (Paperback)
Rose is Rose is a cutesy comic strip...a family strip. Not neccesarily a funny cartoon. It has more of a Family Circus, feel-good vibe to it. The worst things that happen in this strip are the deadly garlic-breath and cousin Clem's continual hogging of everything. Not really my type of strip, but I still read it every day. Why? Because it's very well done. I groan at some of the jokes, but smile at a few, and always enjoy the excellent art. Little details, like the aforementioned garlic breath's cloud of skulls, make it a great strip to look at. And someone *looking* for a nice, uplifting, happy comic will be very pleased. It deserves a spot in the paper, and definitely should get a look if you like simple, pleasant comics.
